Towards Restoration: Crydus talks to Nikolai (13-11-2402)

Despite them both being guardian hosts, Crydus and Nikolai had not interacted much since the young Oyan had joined the Xelot army, an odd fact given how much Crydus really had to say to the Oyan and how much information the Oyan possessed that could be beneficial to his Terran teammates.  Well today, Crydus decided to change all of that.  While Auriani and Gale made their way towards the training room to run a basic simulator, Crydus decided to go and have his talk with the Talon noble.  It didn’t take very long to find Nikolai as he had only just recently left the training room after a sparring session with Deacon, who was currently helping the Oyan to hone his sword style and his hand to hand combat.  This allowed Crydus to catch up to him just outside of the training room, sounding his name to get his attention.

“Nikolai.” Came the call, causing the Synchros guardian to turn now.

“Crydus.”  He turned to greet his fellow Knight.  “Is there something I can do for you?”  He inquired now, causing Crydus to nod.

“Yes, I wanted to talk to you about the G.E.I.”  Crydus explained, causing him to look slightly puzzled.  “The Gaian Elemental Initiative.”  Crydus specified causing Nikolai to nod slightly.  The young Oyan had heard the name being mentioned a few times previously, usually with regard to Crydus’ affiliation with the group, but he didn’t know much outside of it.

Crydus found this to be particularly interesting given Nikolai’s vast knowledge of the world, inquiring whether or not he knew anything about the Oyan predecessor of the Initiative.  This was slightly more familiar to Nikolai, who was familiar with their work in a vague sense, but Crydus still found that he carried the brunt of the conversation himself.  After a few minutes, Crydus’ focus switched before he turned to inquire to Nikolai about the Eye of God.  Needless to say, Nikolai found the quick change of topic to be slightly intriguing but saw no harm in sharing what he knew.

“From my reading, the Eye of God is the main part of a two part system.”  Nikolai explained.  “The second part of the artefact is a temporal receptacle which absorbs ethereal information and stores it.  This receptable exists within the timeline and is theoretically able to record all things that occur while it is in existence.  The Eye of God is simply a user interface that allows the wielder to access the information stored in that Temporal receptacle.”  Nikolai explained, much to Crydus’ confusion.

“This seems pretty advanced... even beyond our current level of technology.”  Crydus replied.

“That it is.  The receptacle seems to be a naturally occurring monolith of unknown location, but the Eye itself was not created until well after our present time.  The legends say that it was brought back from the future when the reality, which housed the senior Guardian spirits was destroyed.”  He explained.

“It is affiliated with another two devices, a suppression seal called the God Slayer and a translocation device known as the Wings of God.”  Nikolai explained.  “However, unlike the Eye, these two devices appeared in our timeline long before the Seniour Guardians emerged, causing historians to wonder whether or not these artefacts were actually shunted from the future or remnants of the past.”

“I see...”  Crydus added as he absorbed the information.  “These are the other two artefacts that have been retreated in previous quests?”  Crydus inquired then.

“I believe this is the case.  The God Slayer was subsequently stolen and is currently in the possession of an unknown bandit, while the Wings of God remain in the hands of the benefactor of the original quest.”  Nikolai explained.   “That is all that I know.”

“That was more than enough.”  Crydus replied with a brief smirk.  “Well, I have to be off, gotta go check and make sure that the girls are getting along will with their training.  We should do this again.”  Crydus ended before moving off.  Nikolai just nodded slightly and continued on his way.
