Doing Your Homework: Val researches the Mord’shee race (25/07/2403)

For this task, Val had travelled back towards the Residential district within Chicomecoatl, moving on to a local library where he would have access to the information that he needed.  He would first look up the Mord’shee as a race, attempting to learn more about the spiders that managed to rival humans in intelligence as he tried to understand their motives behind their mercenary activities.  As he read up on the race, he realised that despite their enhanced intelligence, Mordshee did not possess the complex emotions which humans had the capacity to exhibit, nor did this have the strong senses of aesthetics and moral qualms that had guided human civilisation.  For the most part, apart from their enhanced intelligence, they’re minds still worked like most other animals, seeking personal gain and survival above all else.  Their combat abilities and their ability to communicate with humans, the resident dominant species, allowed them to set up a relationship with these humans as mercenaries and assassins, doing the jobs that others were not capable of getting done, or those jobs which others simply could not be connected with.  Val smirked at their similarities now.  In short, the only way to secure an alliance with this clan, would be to create a mutually beneficial partnership, where the Mercenaries provided the Mordshee clan with something that it could not simply acquire on its own and in return the mordshee woud oblige their request and cooperate with them where necessary.

Val would spend the rest of the day researching their business partners, finding that they dealt with most clans, though the mordshee clan in this area tended to receive most of its work from the Wild Vine, Chicomecoatl, herself.  Val would take this opportunity to go outside and converse with the emissaries of the Wild Vine now, as he tried to gain more information on just what the mordshee clan tended to be requested to do.  He would realise that the tasks were rather broad in nature, but as of late, most of the tasks seemed to be related to hunting down and apprehending Power User terrorists that made nuisances of themselves within the area.  They were usually asked to bring them in alive rather than dead if possible, but as Chicomecoatl possessed the ability to revive those that had not been dead for more than three days, even those that were slaughtered by the vicious assassings tended to be resurrected if they proved to be a small enough threat to the calm of her city.

Val smirked, he would simply need to find something that made the lives of the mordshee easier and he would be halfway to securing this alliance of his.  With this in mind, he would spend the rest of the day in training, attempting to better the effects of his Ether Trancer, a task that would take most of the rest of the day as well as the rest of his stamina.
