Branching Out: Rueben, Rayne and Ryuu return the Masamune (05/08/2403)
By now, going and coming from Itam was a painless process for these three, being sons of the Great Prince Shin Itami. This made things much easier as the returned to Genaisa to present their father with the sword that he had lost almost a century ago. Upon returning the sword, Rueben would now detail his plan to start up their own faction, a notion that greatly amused Shin Itami quite a bit. It would take a great deal of convincing on Rueben’s part now before his father would really buy into the idea, but finally, he would concede and give them his backing. Once this was achieved, they would proceed to the council of Itam to gain their official backing.
For this task, Shin would do most of the talking, knowing much better how to deal with the bureaucrats than his aspiring diplomat of a son. He would request the setting up of a new division of the Itami Royal Guard, one which was designed specifically to deal with foreign affairs in which Itam as a country did not want to appear to take a direct stance on. As his sons were originally of Terran origin, their action tended to be viewed as more independent of the greater will of Itam than would the actions of an elite unit of the Royal Guard. This did not go over particularly well with the council initially, as they were rather sceptical of the abilities of these young Terran born princes, but the retrieval of Shin’s sword did help to bolster some confidence in the young ones. This, combined with Shin’s and as a result Kai’s full support of the creation of this new division, both of whom had their own ulterior motives, helped to tip the scales in the favour of the young Itamis. Despite his current status as an Imperial General in the Itami Royal Guard, a rank possessed only by three others in all of Itam and a rank surpassed only by that of the Imperial General Kai, Shin would also be assigned a secondary lower rank of Division General and be charged with the task of overseeing all of the actions of this new unit. This meant that he would be help personally responsible for their failures, and as such, their actions would influence his public persona greatly. Shin accepted this stipulation willingly, before allowing Rueben to speak.
Rueben would now officially present the sword to his father before the council, a task that would have to repeated once again in a public ceremony some time later. Once this bit of theatrics was done, he would then go on to explain his vision for their faction. The three would combine their personal assets to build a Fortress class facility on Itami soil, and would also be responsible for recruiting others who were not directly related to the Itami Royal Guard as members of their team. Rueben would go on to detail the rest of the faction’s ideas and ideals, occasionally being corrected by the council as they began to work out exactly where Rueben’s wishes ended and where the council’s will began. This would take some time, but once this was done, his request was approved.
Outcome: Rueben and Rayne have resigned from the Order of Demai to take up full positions as members of the Itami Royal Guard, on its new Foreign Affairs Unit. Under the advisement of the council of Itam, they have returned their Combat Suit and other Demai specific equipment to avoid conflict with this clan.
