Out of One’s League: Fyst attempts item creation (12/08/2403)
It had taken Fyst the better half of the morning to track down a dragon that was actually willing to stop what they were doing and assist him, but finally he was able to locate one such being. Needless to say, the young adult de’rak was quite surprised to find that the mature Mercenary operative was actually interested in the de’raks instruments and music rather than technology which would prove to be more useful in his line of work. Regardless of her surprise however, the young dragoness would give Fyst a brief history lesson on draconic culture with regard to music, explaining to the large framed channeler that music was not one of the strongest aspects of dragon culture, but it still had its place especially in the entertainment arena. Much like their technology, their music was very minimalistic, involve the very least external equipment and relying very strongly on the de’rak’s personal ability to create loud and varied sounds which the others found to be appealing. Fyst would quickly learn that good music in the ears of a de’rak was not at all what he was accustomed to, as they tended to prefer long strong notes which resonated in the ears of their listeners, rather than the more fluid sounds that he was accustomed to. Fyst would chalk it up to the fact that their sense of aesthetics was closely linked to their draconic pride and sense of strength, and this was what was expressed in their art.
As Fyst learned this, the dragoness would then go on to teach him that their instruments were not designed to actually create sound, but more to fine tune it and resonate it, allowing their natural ‘singing’ to reach further and have a more profound effect on those that were listerning. Fyst smiled now as he heard this, accepting the crash course in how these ethereal amplifiers worked before he set off and attempted to build his Symphonica. With his form alone, he would not have the coding abilities to achieve such a task however, so Fyst would spend the rest of the day searching for tools. Unfortunately for the large Mercenary however, he was in the wrong place to find tools, the de’rak clan of Timeless had by now become known for their minimalistic ways, he would find no ethereal coders here, he would need to travel back to Fort David, where the entire Research and Development Department would be at his finger tips.
Fyst would sigh greatly, this was a huge oversight, and one which he did not normally tend to make. A quick call to Fort David would signal to them that he was on his way home.
