Casual Conversation: Crydus has a chat with The Eldest (18/08/2403)
Like Jubei, Crydus had also stayed back to have a chat with the Eldest, but his queries had nothing to do with the progressive break, Crydus was more interested in the De’rak clan and their relationships with the other clans of Timeless. The Eldest would inform him that due to their social structures and the inherent arrogance of dragons, de’rak in particular, most dragon clans tended to be very stand-offish even with regard to other dragons. In fact, dealing with other dragons actually tended to be more difficult than dealing with humans, because of their arrogance and subtle competitive natures. When this was combined with the De’raks disdain for politics, this pretty much ensured that they had very few extra-clan social relationships.
Despite their lack of social interaction however, de’rak clans tended to have a strong underling respect for each other which stemmed mainly from their respect for themselves being projected onto other being like them. Crydus was greatly amused at how their innate arrogance tended to be such a strong determinant of their social and political structures, amusement that was duly noted. This respect tended to overflow onto just about all other draconic species, but tended to be most strong with regards to the de’raks and the ragnus, as they were the most similar of the draconic species.
The Eldest would then go onto explain that the Shock Dragons were more like an overly hospitable cousin, whose amicable nature tended to make most de’raks and ragni uncomfortable socially but made them very good partners when it came to getting things done. On the contrary beings like the Loch and Grand Serpents tended to be so powerful that de’raks and ragni tended to defer to their leadership when they found themselves on the same side of a task. Wyverns were quite the opposite, being expected to defer to de’ral leadership in the odd occasions that they were expected to work together.
Crydus would nod now before he summoned his Crystal Dragon to introduce the creature to the Eldest, an action that brought a great level of intrigue from the massive ultimate tier creature. He had to admit that the creature’s body form was different from anything that he had seen, but it did seem to be a genuine dragon instead of a dragon-like construct created by a human. This was rather interesting indeed to the ancient one as he now sat and began his own barrage of questions, as he tried to figure out just how Crydus had come into possession of such a noble summon and what his clan’s relation to dragons generally was.
