Circumstancial Evidence - Jinzo and Jubei attempt Akuma quest simultaneously

Jinzo arrived in the area of the reserve, powered up and ready to tackle the Akuma, he sent out his Grand Viper summon to scout the area and summoned his Dead Defiant which stayed close to him, powering up his Voice of Reason he began to call to the creatures he knew of only by reputation. After a few minutes his Grand Viper summon stopped making contact suddenly and Jinzo realised he had regained the energy expended for it, just as the mental backlash hit him. Still reeling, but determined Jinzo set about summoning his Hellhound Squad at the detection of several entities around him. At the same time his Dark Defiant started to swing its whips wildly, hitting Jinzo himself before it too was destroyed, through the psychic shock Jinzo could see the area around him warping unnaturally before his form glitched and he was reverted.

Meanwhile Bakeneko was at the police station when an attack was reported by an unknown caller. Not wasting anytime Jubei left the police station to get to the area as quickly as possible after the attack had subsided using his Hora Houkou to speed along. He was carrying a zeta powered camera but a modern one with a much higher range than the previous camera he had used.  When he arrived at the area, he began taking pictures of the reverted Jinzo whom the authorities had not reached to aid yet. He maintained a healthy distance from the reserve while taking his photos and snapped quickly to minimise the chance of a repeat of before. Within a few moments he had the shots he needed to show a definite progression of the attack. Taking these shots and several others he had collected in his time investigating. He approached a Tech student and with his help compiled a statistical and mathematical program which proved the epicentre of the attacks to be the reserve. Feeling triumphant he headed back to the authorities several hours after he had left the station.

The police chief eyed the photos and the report from the program, when Jubei presented them to him before grunting.

“This is all circumstantial evidence,” he said, “if this damage is caused by the Akuma then they are coming from the reserve, however none of these shots show the Akuma at work. We can’t storm the reserve just like that to stop creatures which may still just be pranksters.”

Angered by the all the red tape Jubei countered, “You can see something is coming from the reserve, you can at least get a warrant to investigate the area, nothing like your own men as witnesses will give concrete proof!”

The police chief contemplated this outburst before saying, “All right we’ll get a warrant, as the one who seems to know the most about these things around here, you can accompany us to the reserve, if you can make them turn up, then we’ll have the proof we need.” Jubei simply grinned and rubbed his hands together, finally some progress.

Outcome: Jubei simply has to accompany the police chief and lure the Akuma to prove their existence.

Peekaboo - The Cheese award goes to Seig and Paco

The one way scanning system built into Amanda Real’s home gave Seig and Paco… mostly Seig, the perfect jump on his opponents… those being the unsuspecting channelers attempting to join the quest.  With this taken into consideration, as well as Seig’s ability to negate most conventional barriers and the unrivalled power of his “Reversion” skill, it was no doubt that Kiesuke was not the last in the Stryfe brother’s list of reversions.  One day after Kiesuke, Zhie would be reverted, and one day after him, Kenshin, putting the Stryfe brothers up to 3 and 0, and making them the first channelers on the networks on their way to level 6.

No Duh!: Jais completes the Ruins of Tesera quest

Jais made it into the Long Island area early that morning, going out of his way to greet the channelers there before embarking on his quest.  Luckily for him, the Stryfe brothers had already left for France, leaving the more reasonable of the channelers interested in completing the quests for him to deal with.  The first he would meet was Crydus, who was up equally early, also preparing for a his attempt at the quest.  The two exchanged pleasantries, sharing theories on the facility, without giving up too much information before Jais went on his way to locate the Itamis, while Crydus made his way towards the facility to get things started.

Jais’ pleasantry caught the Itami twins slightly off guard, but it wasn’t long before they understood his motives, causing the two Itamis to be somewhat mused by it all.  Once they affirmed that they had no intention of killing him, and were simply killing time until their ‘friends’ returned, Jais made his way off, back towards the ruins to see if he could catch up with Crydus.

This left him somewhat surprised to see the Morpher still standing at the entrance, his energies fully released and seeming to be in deep conversation.  Crydus, was testing a theory, and using his earth manipulation to deal with the pesky sonic disruptors in the building in an attempt to get rid of any further disorienting that might take place while they were inside of the facility.  Unfortunately, he would reach the end of his area of influence before he could finish destroying all of the disruptors.  Unfortunately, even with a great deal of the disruptors destroyed, Crydus witnessed no change in the layout of the facility.  Cyrdus sighed, fusing with the air and making his way along the roof of the facility.

Jais’ approach was somewhat different, running more on the theory that the ruin was actually some kind of hyper-dimensional maze, which was somehow shielded against their weak ethereal scanners.  With this in mind, he stuck to a single wall, traversing the facility and leaving markers as he did, using his own molecular control to disable the sonic disruptors, while remaining in the walls to avoid being damaged.  The process took some time, with Jais moving in circles on multiple occasions, however, thanks to his laser pointers, he was able to redirect himself, and after quite some time, he made it through the light defences into a more heavily guarded room.  From what he could make out, what he was witnessing was a powerful form of dimensional fracturing, an interestingly deadly effect.  It was at this point that Jais found the need to stop, signalling to the others that he would require their help.  Crydus, who had ended up back at the entrance some time ago, was the first to reach his location, but could do little himself other than use his elemental manipulation to send probes into the area, all of which were ripped to shreads by the fractured space.  This left the two Itamis as his only possible chance of completing the quest.

As Roun and Ryuu lounged near the lake, a message came over Roun’s comm. link, requesting his presence in the facility.

“So you think they managed to figure it out?”  Ryuu inquired casually.
”Beats me… you wanna check and find out?”  Roun inquired back.

“Well I guess we could, it beats the hell outta waiting for those Oyans to get back.”  Ryuu decided, powering up and making his way over to the facility.

Following Jais’ instructions, the Itamis made it through the maze of walls in no time, finally coming up on the room which Crydus and Jais simply stood outside of.

“So… what’s going on?”  Roun inquired, quite puzzled by the entire thing, leaving Jais to explain his theory.

“Well, I theorise that, despite the readouts, this facility functions by bending spatial dimensions to, without our knowledge, create a n-dimensional hypercube.  That would explain the shifting rooms, the invincible walls, and the facility’s name’s close resemblance to the word Tesseract.”  Jais explained, drawing exasperated sighs from all in the room, as he confirmed the first theory that they had all simply dismissed.

“Okay, assuming that you’re right… how do we get past this?”  Ryuu inquired.

“Well that’s why I called you here you see… I don’t know.”  Jais laughed lightly, somewhat embarrassed.

“Well Roun, this is your department, you do the dimensional stuff, I just bring the pain.”  Ryuu stated.

“Actually dimensional stuff is Rueben’s department, I’m the ether manipulator.”  Roun replied matter-of-factly.  “I guess I could give it a try though.”

Expanding his energies through the area, Roun used his Cognisance and Psychomance to plot a path through the disrupted area of space before activating his Silhouette Veil, Tunnel Driver and Temporal Shift to Vector Dash to the other side of the area and disable the field.  With that completed, he and Ryuu made quick work of the remaining defenses and made their way towards the generator.

Rejected: Seig and Paco reject Kiesuke's application to the Assistance Required quest

A weak energy signature drew the attention of the Stryfe brothers to the outside of the small cottage.  Having been there for a few days and having seen no action, the two channelers were more than eager for a fight, making the situation that much more tense.  As they made their way to the door of the cottage, they saw Kiesuke Kuro, who quickly rose an eyebrow at the twins.

“Who are you?”  Kiesuke inquired coldly, drawing a look of disdain from Seig.

“I got a better question, who are you?” Seig retorted, powering up his form in a show of dominance.

“If you’re here about the “assistance required” quest, the position has been filled, now feel free to go on your way.”  Paco interjected, quickly closing the door once he was done.  Kiesuke growled lightly, banging on the door once more.  As the door opened, he was greeted with a powerful blast of energy, instantly causing his form to glitch as flames engulfed it burning his energy, while the energy attracted and repulsed the surrounding energy, causing him to be temporarily unable to channel.

Paco sighed heavily as he watched Seig doing his happy dance, combining his energies into his special to finish off the stunned Kiesuke before he could recover.

“How you like me now, tastes good don’ it!?”  Seig celebrated as Paco just sighed.

“That was uncalled for, you probably just made this quest a lot more difficult.”  Paco commented as Amanda stuck her head out of her lab.

“What was that commotion boys?”  She inquired.

“Oh, nothing, just the pizza boy.”  Seig replied quickly, causing Paco to sweatdrop.

“Oh okay.”

Protector: Simon and Illona attempt Illianna Roeder bounty.

Simon and Illona had decided to take up the hunt, contacting Don Ventimiglo in secret to acquire the information on Ms. Roeder before moving on to “take up the hunt” as Don put it.  They would start in Milan, where they were informed that a male friend of Ms. Roeder was last seen, a Hispanic male channeler that would most likely be found at her home in the province.  As expected, the two sensed the signature inside of the building, and again, as expected, it was not the energy signature of Ms. Roeder.

Using Eminimity, Illona quickly scanned the house for any other channelers, and when she found none, made a quick mental map of the house before relaying the information to Simon.  Noting this, Simon gave the go ahead for the two to move in, making their way into the house before powering up in ambush.

“Dios Mio!” Came the exclamation a male channeler went sailing off of the couch and into a nearby wall, his form glitching as he made his way to his feet, cursing in Spanish, before his comm. unit came back on and began to translate what he was saying.  “--Illianna alone, I’ll be forced to teach you just way they call me the red bullet.”

“We didn’t catch all of that, would you like to repeat it?”  Simon taunted, rushing the channeler who powered up fully now into a close fitting red body armour.

Simon’s ‘bum rush’ was intercepted by a dashing body tackle, catching him by the waist, the channeler quickly hefted him off of his feet before slamming him into the ground, cracking the ceramic tiles that glitched beneath him, automatically repairing themselves as the channeler turned to Illona.  The morpher wasted no time in attacking her opponent, sending a hail of wind blades towards the man who seemed to be some sort of grappler.  The mysterious channeler managed to dodge the first two attacks, but he would be unsuccessful in dodging the remaining attacks, forcing him to explode from his location, full body tackling Annaka, and sending them both through the window before drilling her into the ground, and ploughing through the bed of roses in Illianna’s garden.

“Aye, Illianna is going to kill me for ruining her roses.”  He said in a thick Mexican accent, before blasting from his location to avoid a blast from Simon’s Meltdown, focusing his intention back onto the battle.

As he clenched his fists now, energy erupted around him, circling his form once before returning inwards, boosting his stats as he charged towards Simon again.  This time however, Simon was prepared, boosting his own speed and summoning his Resonance Katana, dodging to the size and slashing the grappler in the back as he charged past him.  By then, Illona had also returned to her senses and launched a hail of wind blades into his back, damaging him considerably.  As he stumbled to a halt, he made three quick dashes in succession, blasting away from Simon and Illona before dashing back in, to come up behind them, turning yet again to approach from their flank.  Simon managed to turn towards the attack yet again, once again dodging to the side to deliver another powerful slash to the channeler’s back.  But he would fail, as the channeler blasted past him, grabbing Illona and slamming her into the wall.  As the two impacted the wall, the grappler curled himself into a ball on Illona’s chest, kicking off of her form on impact for added damage before he exploded back towards the overdriven Simon Black.  It wasn’t long before the two realised that, they were both too fast and uncontrolled to hit each other, causing the grappler to turn back to Illona, much easier prey.  As he dashed towards Illona however, Simon quickly cut him off, grabbing him by the neck and planting him into the ground.  Finding himself pinned the grappler quickly rolled onto his back, grabbing Simon’s hand in a lock with his legs before boosting his strength and twisting, breaking it at the elbow.  As Simon writhed in pain, the grappler moved in for the quick kill, only to be bombarded by another hail of electrically charged wind blades.

“Goddammit!” The grappler exclaimed now, growing frustrated of the event as he blasted onto the roof of Illianna’s home.

With this break, Illona rushed to help Simon, who was in pain from having his hand broken.  This forced Illona to snap the hand back into place, although the broken bone prevented him from actually using it properly, forcing him to wield his katana with his weaker hand.  From the roof, the grappler came blasting one more time, quickly being intersected by Simon who delivered a powerful slash, cleaving his form in half… or so he thought.  As the copy dissipated, Simon sensed a previously masked spike, only then feeling the grappler grab him underneath his arms and snap suplex him into the ground, reverting the channeler on the spot, only to take the customary wind blades from Illona.  The attacks, though annoying however, did minimal damage to the channeler, who’s high deflection stat negated more than three-quarters the damage of the attacks.

“Is that all you got?”  The grappler now taunted, having dealt with the heavy hitter on the team.

“Actually, no it’s not.”  Illona laughed, morphing into her Imperial Dragon form and rushed him at high speed, freezing the channeler in his tracks.  Spinning on the spot Illona prepared to move in for the kill, but a flash of light and red energy would be the end to all of that.  As she reverted, all she would see would be a thin athletic woman moving towards the frozen channeler, breaking the ice and hugging the man.

“Mr. Fields, you never cease to amaze me.”

Driven off the Deep End: Cloud and Donovan take final attempt at Birth of Flame Quest.

After his previous defeat, Cloud was adamant about a rematch with a dragon, an even that he referred to as round two of their duel.  As he made his way towards the base of the mountain this time, he paused for a while, glancing up at the Dragon as it attempted to manipulate the spatial distortion some how, impacting it with its breath attack, attempting to cause some noticeable change with great futility.   Cloud grinned, noting his chance to catch the creature off guard and score a hit that counted.  Powering up his form and fully charging his limit break in a matter of seconds.  With this accomplished, he summoned a number of Spartan shields, taking aim and then launching them off at the dragon.  As the shields left Cloud’s hands, and hurled towards the dragon, no reaction could be seen making Cloud almost sure that he would managed to score a hit on the beast before he noticed the spatial distortion growing  wider and wider.  As the shields impacted the fractures space, the energy from his attacks were drained, fuelling the ripple, forcing Cloud to pause his attack pattern and watch the proceedings.  But that is as far as things would go, as Cloud stopped his attack, the energy in the area was reduced, and the resultant flare in activity of the distortion was quelled, causing it to return to normal, much to the displeasure of the dragon.  A loud roar could be heard as this happened, and once again the peak of the mountain… now a plateaux exploded with the dragon’s rage.

The dragon turned its attention to Cloud now, it’s piercing eyes focusing in on the relatively small channeler’s form.  “My heart aches tiny human, attack me now and you will not be spared my wrath.”

But his words fell on death ears as Cloud reinitiated his attack, launching the shields at his opponent.  With this, the dragon dung it’s talons into the earth, launching a series of concentrated balls of energy from its mouth, throwing each shield off course and causing them to crash into different parts of the mountain.  As Cloud finished his shield hurling, he vanished from sight again, this time to receive a tail swipe, knocking him off the plateau and sending him rolling back down the hill.  The attack did a considerable amount of damage to Cloud, but the energy with which the channeler was imbued did leave an annoying sting in the dragon’s tail, only further fuelling its rage.  As Cloud brought himself to a halt using his speed stat, he barely caught a glimpse of the dragon charging a powerful breath attack, allowing him to teleport away yet again to avoid the attack.  While this was going on, Donovan’s Rutaedes spread out beneath the mountain, making the dragon feel even more uneasy.

As Cloud recovered, he hurled another two shields as the dragon, which vanished with a rush of air.  Remembering this technique, Cloud quickly teleported from his position, spinning as he reformed to get a bearing on the dragon, but it was to no avail, forcing him to activate his C. Scanners at full.  It was only then that he noticed the Dragon moving high into the air, and charging some form of attack.  Given its speed and the distance which it had put between itself and Donovan, Cloud could only foresee one thing coming.

“Doom…”  Cloud mumbled to himself, activating Obsidian to fully charge his limit break has he prompted Donovan charge his free energy with Nautilus.

Unlike Cloud however, Donovan’s energy cap was considerably lower than the dragon, which seemed fed up with things the way they were.  As the powerful breath attack headed towards them, Cloud erected his Ultima in a field around his body, grabbing Donovan and imparting his force into him further fueling his power.  Unfortunately for young Donovan, his Monstrous’ maximum limit would be two small to shield the entire village from a top down attack, and as much as he tried, it was to no avail, his control was simply too low to maintain the barrier.  A single tear fell from his eye as the blast obliterated the area and bathed the area in light.  When everything settled, only Cloud and Donovan were left at the centre of the crater, the village has been reduced to ashes and the mountain was flattened.  The spatial distortion also swelled, pulsing uncontrollably before exploding into a strange “portal” like structure, and the dragon was no where to be seen.

Boy Toys: Paco and Seig take Assistance Required quest

Having made their way to residential France, the two Stryfe brothers found themselves walking along the long and winding path to the home of Amanda Real.

“Are you sure this is even considered a Residential area?” Paco questioned rhetorically.

“Psh, this is the field, don’t be fooled, this is just too far to be anything else.”  Seig replied, powering up his form and activating his Hermes Wings, prompting Paco to do the same.

As the two channeler’s approached the home of the female channeler, the sensed a powerful energy signature on the inside of the small cottage, one that preceded a concentrated blast of energy that now flew towards them.  Paco dodged to the side quickly, while Loki engaged his barrier, deflecting the attack around him before the two called out to the person inside.

“Hey!”  The twins called out simultaneously, drawing the attention of Ms. Real, who now peeked outside.  “We’re to apply for the job as body guards, so stop shooting.”  Paco sounded, drawing an embarrassed sigh from the woman inside.

“My apologies.”  Came the voice from the inside.  “Wait while I unlock the front door.” She called out once more, drawing the two channelers to the front door while she provided the password to remove the barricade and let the two channelers in.  Both brothers’ mouths dropped as she opened the door, wearing little more than her messy lab coat as she did.  Paco was the first to recover from the initial shock, regaining enough of his senses to introduce himself, while Loki practically drueled.

“Good afternoon ma’am, I’m Paco Stryfe and this is my twin brother Seig, we’re here to take on the roles of bodyguard for you.”  Paco explained, as Seig made barely audible comments about how much fun guarding her body would be.

“Oh twins… how nice.”  Amanda replied pleasantly.  “I was praying that I wouldn’t stuck with some overly stuffy military type or hideous brute.  Looks like my prayers were answered, the two of you will do nicely… quite nicely indeed.”  Amanda smiled pleasantly, casually buttoning up her lab coat to make herself slightly more presentable.  “Now should I show you two around the place, or did you two have something else in mind.”  Amanda inquired, causing the brothers to side glance each other.

“Well actually, we were wondering if we could negotiate the price at which our services come.”  Seig started, drawing a mild chuckle from Amanda.

“Your services you say?” She inquired, making Seig somewhat uncomfortable.

“What my brother meant was, that we were wondering if we would be rewarded with something more tangible than cash.”  Paco began to explained.

“Oh I see, how tangible were you thinking?” Amanda replied deviously, before her pager went off.  “Oh no… well I think we’ll have to continue this a bit later boys.  It was fun playing with you, but we’ll have to discuss your payment at another time.  By the way, you’re both hired, you can work out the specifics amoung yourself.  I’ll be in my lab, only disturb my if its absolutely necessary.”  And with this, the woman disappeared into her laboratory, leaving both Stryfes quite stunned.

“We were just dismissed?” Paco inquired to Seig.

“Fairly hard…”  Seig replied, before the two just looked at each other and said in tandem.

“Chaaa…”

Making Progress: Kyo attempts the Stalker bounty again

Cy’s investigative channelling was becoming the talk of the town down in the Turin, and for once, since the start of the brutal murders, the families of the victims started to gain some hope that the vicious killer responsible would finally be apprehended.

The police force managed to cut down a great deal of Cy’s work, managing most of the interactions with the families as Cy tried to acquire permission to view the bodies of the deceased, allowing Cy to get started on the creation of a lists of possible organisations that all of the girls could have been members of, a possible reason for a symbol or some sort that the killer would be removing.

Cy was only half finished his list when the boys down at the precinct contacted him and told him that he now had permission to view 9 of the 13 bodies of the victims.  Cy clenched his fists triumphantly, finally seeming to be getting somewhere with the investigation, as he quickly made his way down to the morgue. Unfortunately for Cy, the shape of the skin removed didn’t get much of a clue to what the symbol could have possibly been, as it didn’t seem like much care was taken to cut around the outline of the marking or whatever it could have been.  But he did notice a trend, the size and shape of the skin which was removed was starting to become a lot more uniform from victim to victim.  Another thing that he noticed was the similarities in each murder, reassuring him that he wasn’t missing much by not being able to view the other 4 bodies.  Upon closer observation, Cy noticed that a number of the girls did not have red tips on their hair, though their roots seemed to be red.  This would not have stood out much however, had the morph not realised that he couldn’t detect any foreign substances on the tips that would indicate dye of any sort.  Without hesitation, he made his way to a comm. terminal, and accessed the police records on the girls, noting that only one of the thirteen had been born with red hair, while the others ‘dyed’ their hair later on in live… or at least that was what they thought.  Cy knew differently, their hairs were not dyed.

Continuing with his autopsy, Cy estimated the power of the heat blade to be no more than 45 s.p., though from the variation in the cuts, he determined that it must have been able to vary in length and width while the stalker attacked with it.

His search into the type of stealth exhibited by the channeler was fruitless however, as the police database already possessed a full break down of the technique by channelling experts, one of the main reasons why they could track him via satellite even when he was stealthed.

This left just Cy’s inquiries into the order of the victims, pinpointing the first victim and running a search into her death specifically.  Well known to most investigative detectives, the first victim of a serial murderer will always provide the greatest number of clues, unfortunately, none of these clues were very useful to Cy.  Cy sighed as he came to the end of his investigation, slumping in the chair as he tried to figure where he would go next before a loud beeping broke the silence in the room.  It would seem that the long list of possible organisations he was compiling had been completed, and the police headquarters’ mainframe had managed to narrow it down to three possible organisations.  Cy quickly made a printout of the three organisations and left the room.

Not Getting Along: Xian and Gabriel attempt Semblance of Genon quest

Xian was slowly… very slowly learning why it was always better to coordinate plans with those who you were taking with you into quests.  Like most quests, channelers were forced to register for the Semblance of Genon  quest before hand, and were refused entry into the area without their full party.  This was so that the benefactors of the quest could avoid any legal ramifications of channelers being seriously injured, or god-forbid, killed.  Gabriel, Xian’s accomplice in this task, was the hold up, refusing to embark on any quest attempts without Xian sharing the details of the plan with him… or atleast, that was the plan.  However, as would be expected, after 7 days, Gabriel’s patience wore down, and finally he showed up for the exercise, greeting a more than antsy Xian.

“It’s about time you got here.”  Xian sighed, drawing a loud scoff from Gabriel, who was very close to giving him a piece of his mind.

“Don’t even get me started, because I am still waiting on you.”  Gabriel exploded, walking towards the sectioned off area and clearing the team before they were allowed to proceed inwards.

Xian followed Gabriel into the facility, not exactly sure what the channeler upset with, but deciding it best to avoid conflict with the young Psycher who he had coaxed into playing bodyguard while he checked out the area.  Gabe made his way to the area were the majority of the creatures had been sited, folding his arms and powering up his form to max, awaiting Xian’s attempts at communications.  Xian would take some time to get ready, having to fuse a number of his summons in order to create once which would actually prove useful in this situation before sending it burrowing into the ground towards the creatures.  His make-shift scanning array detected a rather wide area under the earth, which the creatures inhabited, appearing as a number of interlinking tunnels to form a network of sorts.  Gabriel, being quite oblivious to this information, was more concerned with the actions of Xian’s summons.  Upon noticing it burrowing into the ground, his eyes widened, before his eyebrows lowered and he glared at Xian, almost in disbelief at what he was doing.

In mere seconds, a tremor could be felt through the area, but this didn’t stop Xian’s messenger

“Are you trying to level this entire area or do you just want to kill us?” Gabriel inquired rather casually, causing Xian to re-evaluate his approach, unsummoning the beast and resummoning it above ground again, this time sending it into one of the already burrowed tunnels of the creatures.

“God…” Gabriel sighed.

As the messenger made its way towards the creatures, Xian attempted to open a telepathic link, broadcasting his signal into the depths with hope of a reply.  At first, he heard nothing, followed by white noise, before a mass of unorganised thoughts flooded his messenger, forcing the creature to attempt to sort the psychic mess.  Even with Xian’s and his creatures’ his processing power, they found it near impossible to make out thoughts of the creatures and establish some form of communication.  Through the mass of thoughts however, Xian’s managed to detect a single, stronger, more organised stream of thoughts, and focused his communications of that.  Filtering out the other voiced, Xian now tuned into a series of moans and groans of what he could only assume was a female of the species.  Xian’s eyebrow raised now, as he tried to sense any emotions attached to these abstract thoughts.  But even this proved to be confusing, much like the rather contradicting moans and groans, Xian detected hints of pleasure and pain leaving him to draw a blank at the situation.  As his messenger made it to the highest level of the subterranean society, Xian noticed that it was being ignored, as the creatures simply continued to go about their way gathering the diamond shards before moving quickly down into the depths, far past Xian’s area of influence.  Xian sighed, ordering his messenger to move to the end of his personal space and commence scanning of the area beyond that point.  This would have been a good idea, had this action not seemed to offend the creatures somehow.  Being in paranoia mode, Xian realised, near instantaneously when the creatures began to converge on his messenger, but he could do nothing as the summon was torn to shred, even faster than he could desummon it and avoid the mental backlash.  Gabriel braced himself as the ground began to shake, noticing as over twenty creatures blasted their way up from beneath the earth.

Grabbing Xian and tossing him on his X-3, Gabriel prepared himself for the incoming attacks as he found himself surrounded.  What struck him as odd however, was that even though they seemed to have the terrain and number advantage, the creatures refused to commence the attack, almost as if they simply wanted to scare the channelers off.  Gabriel smirked as he noticed a gap in the creatures, no doubt the route which they wished the channelers to take out of the area.  Gabriel smirked, signalling the direction which he, and the now recovering Xian would have to move, to get out of the area without a fight.

Reality Check: Iolus attempts Reconnaisance quest

Iolus was indeed an ambitious channeler, and like many before him, was more than eager to test out those abilities that he developed after graduating the small school for channelers, which he attended.  His first project was quite ambition, maybe too much so for someone at his level, requiring quite a bit of technical  knowledge, a skill that the young channeler was barely below average in.  However, much to his delight, the ethereal scanners mounted in his hard-point system provided a nice expandable base upon which he could build.  Using his spot hashing and Hapheastus, he began to code these functional upgrades into the device, managing, though just partially to succeed in his tasks.  He was unable to upgrade the output of the device, but the additional filters did add a few more modes with which he could view the environment.

With this done, he moved on to create his offensive trump card for this attempt. However another thing that the channeler would come to learn was that, though Hapheastus did grant him the ability to utilise his Spot Hashing skill, it did in no way allow him to perfect summon his creations, forcing him to generate the energy to maintain this created weapon: Tsunade.  This cut the predicted output of his weapon down to a mere 9% of what Iolus had planned, but even Iolus had to admit that it was better than nothing.

Noting this, Iolus’ confidence did drop considerably, but he was still determined, to finish his quest attempt, and in doing so, be on his way to a rather hefty reward.

His talks with the locals didn’t provide much information, other than wild guesses and unrealistic predictions, all of which would have most likely sent him on a wild goose chase, forcing him to simply abandon that part of his original strategy for the quest.  The next order of business was to move into the area, deploying his scanning device and watching from a remote area.  Failing to create Iphaclies as he had planned, the young Alchemist was forced to manually create a link between his Ethereal Scanners and Data Pad, using his Comm. Link to bridge the two devices before he used his telekinesis to move the scanners through the area.

The modifications that he made to the scanners didn’t seem to be of much help, as they did allow him to sense the energy fluctuations, as most scanners would, but they didn’t provide much insight into what these fluctuations actually were, causing young Haden to be quite annoyed at what seemed like it was going to become a wasted day.  Just then, when he was about to call it a day, Haden witnessed what one of the crazier sounding locals had described to him.  Out of nowhere, inside of one of the areas that seemed to be spawning the odd fluctuations, Iolus witnessed the head of a rather large creature spawn, moving across the fluctuation before it vanished again, almost like he was looking through some form of portal.

“Okay then….” Iolus noted to himself, setting his Data Pad to record as he tried to get another event like this on record.

With this, he moved his scanners into a better position for recording, only to sense another fluctuation, encompassing the area where his scanners were.  It seemed as if the scanners were somehow causing the ‘portal’ like effect, and what was stranger yet, it seemed that, though the odd entities were confined to these ‘portals’, they could affect things present in the same portals.  Iolus would learn this the hard way, as another creature, similar to what he had seen before flew through the portal, eating his Scanners.

“What the--!?” Iolus exclaimed, his rage building before he realised that he had managed to capture the attempt on his Data Pad.  Iolus smirked, at this, before sensing an odd energy around him, cueing him to leave.  He would barely make it out of that “portal” alive, barely evading the jaws of the odd creature that lurked in the realm on the other end of the portals.

Just Checking: Cloud observes Ruins of Tesera quest

The Ruins of Tesera seemed to be drawing a lot of attention, an occurrence that greatly pleased the mysterious benefactors of those who were attempting the quest.  This time it would be Cloud Stryfe making his way to the ruins.  The psycher, unlike those before him however, seemed to have no intention of actually entering the facility, simply scanning the facility and the surrounding area with his C. Scanners.

With his intensive scans into the area, Cloud’s C. Scanners detected some anomalies, but nothing particularly revealing.  Much like Crydus before him, he realised the external area of the facility did not correspond to the detected internal volume of the building, but even with his ethereal scanners he couldn’t detected any form of dimensional or special folding.  Cloud raised an eyebrow; either his scanners were glitching or whatever was going on within the building was extremely well hidden.

With the strange branching structures which he sensed within, it was exceedingly difficult to get a lock on the central energy signature, that which would denote a generator, and even if he could denote it, with all of the corridors folding back in on themselves, it would be quite difficult to navigate an actual path to the generator.  Cloud scoffed at the tediousness of the action, turning his attention to the channelers in the area.  His scans picked up 5 life forms, none of whom were powered up, quickly causing him to lose interest. A quick temporal scan into the past would be last on the agenda, before Cloud packed up his stuff and left.

Going in Circles: Crydus attempts Ruins of Tesera quest

With the Itamis and the Strykes still lingering in the area, Crydus attempts at the quests were quite bold.  Luckily however, the four channelers were still regrouping, trying to analyse the results of their last attempt, and if necessary, trying to find another person who could be useful to them. So they had no interest in reverting him.

This allowed Crydus to proceed without hindrance.  Upon arrival, he powere dup into Pulse, utilising his various senses to get a feel for the facility.  Standing outside, he could make out the general size and shape of the facility, but his elemental senses were telling him something different, making it all quite confusing.  The inside of the building seemed much large than the outside, and the branching maze-like structure made it near impossible for him to make up much… but it was a clue.

“Hm.” Crydus noted to himself, moving towards the facility, whose door had conveniently been removed one day prior to his attempt.

Not having to worry about the heavily fortified door, Crydus moved into the facility using his Hydrea’s Rune, flowing through the ventilation in his attempts to avoid automated security systems. Initially, this seemed like a good idea, until he found the ventilation shaft getting wider and wider, until eventually, he found himself in a regular corridor.

“Err…!?” Crydus exclaimed to himself, before the sonic disruptors popped out of the wal, quickly going to work on his form.

The initial effect was disorienting, but after a few seconds, it became painful, forcing Crydus to act quickly.  Wasting no time, he shadow melded into the ground, assuming his only morph that wasn’t completely material, and hence displayed some immunity to the matter disruption effects of the cannon.  As a shadow, he moved through the walls towards the cannons, but once again found himself in another room, drawing a second look of confusion.  “But… but how!?”  Crydus exclaimed once more, his voice this time betraying a hint of amusement at the situation.  A series of shadow meld attempts resulted in his form being thrown all over the facility, before he, like those before him, found himself at the entrance.  Crydus just smiled and exited the facility, nodding his head.  He would know what to do next.

Can’t Stop This Rampage: Serai and Hyaku attempt master of the fist quest.

The young Leonardo Benjamin perused the streets of the residential district Tener Aldron was last know to have been sighted. It was a suburban district with beautifully landscaped and well kept houses, Serai was well aware of the consequences if he did any property damage to them. He didn’t have to go very far when he heard a voice behind him.

“Foolish little one, how dare you trespass here, do you seek the master of the fists?”

Serai was stunned to have engaged his target so quickly and how quickly the signature appeared out of nowhere but he tried not to show it. “I am here to put an end to your trouble.” He said turning to gaze up at the ripped channeler behind him, who was wearing what resembled an old gi.

“Really?” Tener asked, “Well then die!”

Tener wasted no time starting the attack. He lunged punched at Serai whose Reptos combined with his Seraitis to help devise a quick escape route away from the attack. Quickly teleported away, Serai summoned Reiku and was preparing to counter when Tener seemingly snapped to his location and delivered a blindingly fast triple palm strike. The attack sent Serai flying but before he could even start to recover Tener dashed after him stepping in with a lunge punch, however before the attack could strike a blue streak descended between them and hit the ground a wave of energy springing up at Tener as Hyaku who had also been seeking Tener interrupted the battle in progress with a Vertical Buster Wolf.

To the surprise of Hyaku and Serai however, the energy from the attack was stopped at the palm of Tener, seemingly frozen in place before dissipating as useless light. However the two didn’t stop and stare and took turns attacking Tener, Serai trying to land a hit with Reiku and Hyaku barraging with his crescent wave Nodaichi. Serai alternated his sword whip with chain whip, managing to slice Tener once but paying heavily for it with a palm strike to back fist, followed with an knee and a spinning hook combo all in such a short space of time it seemed the attack finished when it started.

Serai went flying but teleported to regain control reappearing with an attack at the same time that Hyaku appeared with a calculated phasing slash. Tener evaded Serai’s attack but was struck by Hyaku’s slash. Realising that he might lose if he played around with them too long. Tener kicked it into to over drive. Deflecting an attack from Hyaku easily to one side, he fired a beam of energy at Hyaku who raised a heavy energz barrier to stop it only to find that the blast easily penetrated his barrier and knocked him flying.

Serai reappeared starting his avalanche technique which let loose a wave of electrified energy towards Tener. Assessing the situation Tener used his energy to hit a section of the attack and stop it and snapped past the gap created to attack Serai. With his AI working overtime Serai triggered his Kamikaze in a last ditch attempt to stop Tener’s advance, using environmental mastery to boost the attack, but Tener parried the explosions near his form with waves of energy and closed in grabbing Serai with a hand coated in energy and “sticking” to his form and activating his special Dark Hadou. Several energy coated strikes followed which hit Serai and rocked his form with several flashes all the energy constructs which powered his form knocked from his body.  Serai was reverted as an energy silhouette as his form hovered behind him for a few seconds, before being absorbed into Tener.

Tener switched his focus to Hyaku who began charging his phase shift boots, Tener fired the energy he had just accumulated as a thin directed beam at Hyaku. Hyaku managed to shift in time to avoid the full blast but was clipped in the hand, his form taking serious damage. As Tener snapped to his location and grabbed him with an energy coated hand. Hyaku’s code vision had shown him the inert energies of Serai’s form before his forcible reversion. His A.I. instantly routed a solution predetermined after the analysis of the attack on Serai. Triggering 2C2 Hyaku pulsed his form’s energy and forcibly separated himself from the energy grip that Tener had and triggering  a low level Messatsu attack he blasted away Tener a few feet. Then activating his full charged phase shift boots, Hyaku  dashed away as far as possible, powered down and sought refuge.

Tener smiled to himself, all who had come against him fell or cowered in fear.

That’s one way to Investivagate: Kenshin and Jubei attempt Akuma quest

“So I can have this old zeta Camera you say?”  Jubei asked the store attendant.

“Yeah, sure its useless junk its got a really poor quality picture compared to the cameras of today and its long range scope only gets to about 800 metres. You can just take it and use it if you’ll bring it back in good condition.” The store attendant said.  Grinning Jubei took the camera carefully and left the store, opening his comm. Link he contacted his brother Kenshin.

“Kenshin, this is Jubei, I’ve gotten hold of a long range Camera and I’m heading to the hillock near to the reserve, I’ll try to see if I can get some photographic evidence of the spreading damage.”

“Ok, I’m investigating the alternate locations but nothing has happened so far. I’ll come meet you there if nothing turns up. Kenshin, out”

Jubei closed the comm. Link and headed over to the hillock, he was told that the entities didn’t seem to have a particular time for striking but had so far appeared every two days. That was yesterday and there had been no surges so today was overdue for one. He sat on the hillock and began scanning the environment for any changes which may suggest the activity of the Akuma. For hours he waited and nothing happened until an engine noise startled him, quickly scanning around him on long range mode he saw an Archel a 100 metres away lose control and strike a tree before glitching and dumping its exhaust from its thrust erratically. Two users leapt from the car, one clutching his head and seemingly screaming, Jubei only able to see his wide open mouth.

Jubei recorded all the while with the camera, as the second user ran away from the vehicle before suddenly clutching his head and falling to the ground rolling in the dirt and spasming. In a few minutes it was over, Jubei panned the camera up, showing the linear progression of the victims to the reserve before trying to shut down the camera. However it wouldn’t turn off, suddenly the images on screen glitched and the camera whirred before going blank cueing in the young channeler to its malfunction, Jubei’s eyes widened before his form began losing cohesion, madness gripped him a few seconds later and Jubei’s form leaked energy before he subsequently passed out reverted. Kenshin would find him a few hours later in the same spot

Clash of Titans: Cloud assists in the Birth of Flame quest

With Donovan’s previous attempt to reason with the dragon having failed, this left Cloud to take the more direct approach.  Donovan’s information wasn’t exceedingly helpful, but it did warn Cloud of the dragon’s disinclination to listen to reason.  Nevertheless, Cloud still believed that diplomacy was the best course of action.  Scanning backwards through time, Cloud viewed the events of the past day before scrolling back as much as possible in an attempt to see how it was that the dragon appeared.  Even with his Force boosting the scanners however, Cloud found that the temporal range of his scanners we severely limited prevented him from viewing back to the actual day when the Dragon first arrived.

What he could sense however was a familiar energy distortion above the area where the dragon roosted.  Cloud thought to himself, but couldn’t seem to figure out just why that distortion felt to similar to him.  Shaking his head, he ignored the feeling for the moment and made his way up the mountain, creating a number of visual illusions around him, hopefully to make it harder for the dragon to pinpoint his location and attack him.

As he encroached on the dragon’s territory, loud laughter resounded in his mind.

“Oh how brave you are.  What is your name?”  The dragon inquired.

“Cloud Stryfe, we need to talk.” Cloud replied, only to be cut off by the dragon.

“That we do not… do not mistake my curiosity for intrigue, I was simply wondering what they would carve on your grave stone when I destroy you.  Now are you from the village below, or will I have to make a more lengthily trip to make an example of your people?”  The dragon continued.

“I’m from Oya, just like you.” Cloud retorted.

“You assume a lot about me.”  The dragon scoffed.  “Now prepare for you death.”

“I would prefer not having to fight you to the death; I came to see if we could reason, and if there was anything that I could offer you, so that you would leave peacefully.”  Cloud explained.

“And if I said no, then would you be more inclined to fight me?” The dragon challenged.

“If it’s a duel you want, what I need to prove that I am worthy of your audience?”  Cloud inquired, only drawing even louder laughter from the dragon.

“You worth is of no concern insect, you are an obstacle, and as long as you continue to be one, you death will be the only solution to my current problem.”

“Fine, if it’s death you want, than that is what you shall have… you will die.”  Cloud proclaimed confidently.

“Finally, a human with some guts, it will be a pleasure to decorate this mound with intestines as fortuitous as yours.”  The dragon continued to laugh as Cloud summoned his Spartans and charged them with energy, releasing the two shields and preparing for his next attack.

The speed at which the shields came at the dragon made them hard to dodge, forcing it to power up to full in order to shield the attacks.  Raising its head to the sky, a loud roar could be heard, energy rushing into the dragon as the top mound of the mounted was bathed in light.  Cloud’s ethereal scanners managed to filter out most of the light, making out a hazy silhouette of the dragon, who’s form has changed somewhat.  The reptilian’s body was now covered with obsidian scales, off of which the shields simply ricocheted, doing minimal damage as it turned its head towards cloud.  Cloud’s eyes widened, much like Donovan before him, as his new C. Scanners registered his target’s level at somewhere between level 10 and 12.  As if playing with him, the creature started a high energy breath attack, allowing it to impact the ground some distance away from Cloud, before turning his head slightly and drawing the beam in the direction of the channeler.  With his Titan’s Hammer quickly replenishing his energy, Cloud made a quick dive to the side, sailing through the air to evade the attack before summoning his energy about him and teleporting towards the dragon.  Upon appearing, he made a quick grab for the dragon’s tail, missing only by inches.  As fast as he had grabbed, the beast blasted into the air, knocking Cloud away with wind off it its wings as it took off.

“Is that all you have little man?  Don’t disappoint me…”  The dragon laughed, once again launching a fluid beam of energy towards Cloud, forcing Cloud to use his Titan’s Hammer to Ultimate Guard the attack.

“Good, keep it up.”  The dragon’s voice rang in his mind, as Cloud sensed a more powerful attack coming towards him.  Once again he teleported avoiding a hazy blue energy beam that bored into the tip of the mountain, piercing the earth and leaving a crater almost 100 metres deep.  “Why do you run, why do you not face my fury!?”

Cloud appeared some distance away, sliding to a stop and summoning Ragnarok as well as a Spartan shield, to prepare for his next attack.  Dodging yet another breath attack, he sailed into the air, but it would seem that his opponent was no longer amused with him.  With a burst of energy, the dragon vanished, and all cloud would feel would be a strong gust of wind before he found himself dwarfed by the shadow of the beast.  Opening its mouth, it engulfed Cloud in the charging breath attack, forcing him to Ultimate guard the attack, before he and it were launched into the earth.  As it hit, the attack exploded upwards in a pillar of light, leaving a reverted Cloud at the centre of the crater, heavily damaged and nearly reverted.

Using Nautilus and Monstrous, Donovan had managed to divert the debris from the village, but Cloud’s defeat was disheartening at best.  This only made the coming statement more terrifying.

“You have interfered for the last time.”  Came the resounding statement from the dragon.  “Abandon you homes and flee in terror, you doom awaits you here!”

Red Tape: Kyo attempts the Stalker bounty

Cy’s ambition was impressive to the officers down at the precinct in Turin, one of the main reasons why it saddened them that they could not be of more assistance to the young channeler. As would be expected, most of the murders were committed at night, making harder to identify the already stealth based killer, and with him targeting females anywhere from age 14-39, pinpointing an MO was exceedingly difficult. In fact, other than 11 of his 13 victims having red hair, there wasn’t really enough evidence to form a pattern. From the scars on the bodies, the police did deduce that he was using some form of highly heated blade, which cauterised the wound with each slash, forcing him to be exceedingly brutal with his swipes. Blood spray in the area covers all possible angles, making it impossible to detect which direction he prefers to attack from. Satellite monitors have been able to track his energy signature, even when stealthed, but they are unable to track him, even visually when he is powered down, and his kills are too quick for Enforcers to get a lock on him, teleport in and neutralise him before he vanishes from the area.

With this in mind, Cy made his way to the crime scenes to observe the killer’s handy work, but he couldn’t pick up much with his True Sight. Cy sighed, it has simply been too long for him to pick up a definitive energy signature, and the area had been cleaned before it was reopened to the public, for him to gain any real data, he would need to scan the area after it was recently contaminated. With all these attempts ending in a bust, this left only the coroner’s reports, as Cy would not be allowed to view the bodies due to legal red tape. The coroner’s reports seemed to be relatively routine, with the exception of one thing, all of the women seemed to be missing a large patch of skin from their back. The skin seems to have been removed with the same super heated blade, causing Cy to wonder how he could be so fast as to pull this all off and not be caught. But another, more important question lingered on his mind: why that patch of skin, what was there before it was removed, all of these questions lingered in his mind now. He would need to observe the bodies, only they would provide any answers to these questions.

No Room for Negotiation: Donovan attempts Birth of Flame quest

“What do you mean you don’t know what it eats?”  Donovan inquired with disdain.  “Have you been monitoring it at all?  Have you seen it leave its perch?”  In continued to question the small group of citizens, who all replied to the effect of “I don’t know.”  “Do you have any information that would be useful to me?”  Donovan inquired, being quite frustrated after having received nothing useful in the 30 minutes that he had spent talking with the various villagers.

“It’s rather strong, and destroys those who attack it with hellfire!”  One citizen started, signalling a hail of other comments upon the creature’s strengths and it’s affinity for bringing death to those who oppose it.

“Useless…”  Donovan sighed, before leaving the confines of the city and powered up, summoning Rutaedes and having it expand towards the peak of the mountain.

Its growth was slow at first, but with the help of Donovan’s nautilus, its growth became rapid and almost uncontrollable, forcing Donovan to slow it down as it spread through the mountain.

The growing energy spike woke the sleeping beast, an event that was accompanied by a dehabilitating energy signature that spread through the area.  Donovan eye’s widened now, as he sensed the true power of the beast, causing him to proceed with even further caution.  Donovan’s suspicion of eggs went unconfirmed, as did his expectation of some form of unique sustenance for the Dragon, as all Rutaedes’ borrowing revealed was rock after rock after rock.  Donovan sighed, not seeing why the Dragon would be so drawn to this area.  This left only one course of action, diplomatic relation.

“No dung?  What kind of organism is this?”  Donovan inquired, pushing Rutaedes to locate the dragon atop the mountain.

As the summon approached, the dragon flew into the air, charging a powerful breath attack before launching it down into the mountain, hitting the main mass if Rutaedes and disintegrating it, along with a fraction of the mountain, sending rocks tumbling down cliff towards Donovan.

Monstrous easily diverted the debris around Donovan, though at the low s.p. he did find it somewhat difficult to shield his entire body, forcing him to use technique in a more precise, localise form.  Nevertheless, he was safe, and he would need to gain the attention of the dragon before it released another attack and finished off Rutaedes.  With this in mind, all of Rutaedes’ growth was concentrated into a single tip, growing as a spike towards the top of the mountain before Donovan spoke through it.

“Wait!”  He exclaimed, causing the dragon to pause curiously, the powerful breath attack leaking from its jaws as it did.  “Great winged dragon, please I beg a word with you.”  Donovan started respectfully, having learned at a young age of the way that one should address creatures as majestic as dragons.

“Speak.”  Came the dragon.

“I have come to ask you, on behalf of the village, if you would be kind enough to grace us with an explanation for your presence.”  Donovan continued.

“You mean the village that send it’s minions with stick and stones to remove me.”  The dragon replied with a sense of amusement.  “Tell me boy, why should I offer you any explanation?”

“I know that you are not obligated to answer me, but we seek peace, and wish to know if that is possible.”  The dragon chuckled lightly now.

“If it is peace that you seek, you will leave me be.  I have no intention of explaining my motives or my origins to you.  Leave at once and the village will be spared, they have nothing I want and so are of no interest to me.  If anyone tries to ascend this mountain again, I will kill them, follow them back to the hole from which they have crawled and destroy their kin.  Now leave.”  With this, Rutaedes was unsummoned and Donovan left, he would need to regroup and rethink his strategy.

A Lesson in Humility: Vergil and Elise attempt Energy Shortage Quest

Acquiring a pardon for powering up within the city was never an easy task, but the governing bodies that saw over the city of New York were more than willing to grant Vergil and Elise these pardons… after all it wasn’t very often that they would find two so willing to throw themselves into harms way.

With the license acquired, the two made their way into the centre of the city, where Vergil powered up in an attempt to draw fourth the creature.

“Nervous Vergil?”  Elise inquired, drawing a confident laugh from her partner.

“Hardly, on the contrary, this should be a walk in the park.” Vergil replied confidently.

Under normal circumstances, this wouldn’t have been much of an incentive, a solitary channeler amidst the hundreds of buildings and vehicles in the city, but once again, the governing bodies of New York were obliging and cut the power to the zeta based devices in the area.  Under these circumstances now, Vergil stuck out like a sore thumb, and it wasn’t long before the two channelers could sense a powerful spike approaching.

“Be on your guard Vergil.”

“I assure you that I have it covered.”  Vergil replied with confidence, engaging his barrier and charging his aura.

Unfortunately for both channelers, even though they could sense the creature’s energy, actually seeing it would be a problem, but Vergil had come prepared.  His carried ethereal scanners, combined with the enhanced sensing of those mounted on the hard point of his expansion suit gave him the ability to actually see the creature.  With this Vergil sprung into the air, tearing the hovering street lamps out of their closed storage cases and flinging them at the creature as it exploded from the ground towards him.  The attack did negligible damage, being drained of kinetic, thermal and electro magnetic energy, causing them to slow to a stop, freeze and then shatter as it continued moving upwards towards Vergil.  As it closed the distance between them, Vergil vanished, appearing with an even more powerful aura as Elise’s Tainted Leviathan erupted from the earth and hurled itself towards the creature.  As Elise ported the tainted leviathan to the creature’s location Vergil released his Tango combo, opening with a powerful strike with his Niche before continuing with a powerful combo barrage.  While the creature was stunned, the tainted leviathan impacted it, hazing it considerably before it screamed as dissipated, much to Elise’s surprise.  The metallic roar of the creature sounded almost like maniacal laughter as it’s body morphed, wrapping itself around Vergil’s niche and beginning to drain the energy from it’s capacitor, and subsequently, from Vergil, forcing him to teleport to Elise’s location, once again appearing with a charged aura.

The loud roars of the creature sounded almost like a voice as it hovered on the spot before once again making its way towards its prey.

With his Niche gone, Vergil was forced to resort to his projectile attacks, all of which did nothing but feed the creature’s power.  Once again Vergil teleported away, leaving Elise’s summons to fend for themselves.  One after the other they came, first Degaia, then the Drake, but their attacks and then they themselves were absorbed, forcing the team to flee.

It would not be so however, they would be hunted and reverted, their energies drawn from their bodies.  Had it not been for the authorities arriving, they would both have perished.

Job Description: Sieg, Paco, Roun and Ryuu attempt Ruins of Tesera Quest.

“So who the hell are these guys?” Ryuu inquired.

“Beats me man, I just got the call and it sounded interesting so I said that I’d pop in and see what was going on.”  Roun replied.

“Uh huh…”

“Heh, what’s the worst that could happen… five days isn’t that long right?”  Roun jested, drawing a slight smirk from his brother.

“Well at least this quest pays a salary and not a bounty, or that would suck.”  Ryuu added.

“Yeh, cuz we need to get us some real transportation, and quick.” Roun replied as the two brothers made their way towards the designated area, hopping along the rooftops that jutted out of the flooded Long Island area.

The ones that they would be meeting where having an easier time traversing the unstable terrain however, simply thrusting over the water rather than jumping on the unstable roofs.

The distinctive hair colour of the Itami’s made them easily recognisable, allowing the Stryfe twins to easily identify them, putting them somewhat at ease as they approached.

“Well that haven’t blasted us yet, so I guess they’ve agreed to help.”  Seig commented comically, causing Paco to become slightly annoyed.

“Well thanks for pointing that out… captain obvious.”  Paco replied with a slight sigh, being somewhat tense as this was his first real quest.

As the Itamis came into earshot of the Stryfes, Roun’s greeting sounded.  “j0 d00ds, what’s going on?” he shouted to the Oyans, drawing indiscernible hand gestures and inadible mumbles, causing the young channeler to laugh lightly.

“Gotta love Oyans…”  Ryuu smirked as well.  “Especially when you have a comm. link that doesn’t translate fourteen hundred year old slang.”  Ryuu’s comment drew raised eyebrows from the Stryfes, who just assumed that Roun’s words were not some arcane battle cry and tried to focus on the upcoming activity.

As Roun approached, he shook the hands of the two men, introducing himself and his brother before he got to work.

“So did you guys manage to get the schematics for this place?”  Roun inquired.

“No, our mysterious employers don’t know much about the facility, other than that it has a generator and that they want it.” Paco replied, drawing a sigh from Roun, whose form was still showing damage from his previous day’s battle.

“Well I guess we’ll just need to be careful then.” Roun continued, diverting full power to his permanent attributes.

“So… how do we get in?”  Ryuu inquired, his eyes wondering over to the large metal door that blocked their path.

“Well I’m picking up a fairly strong zeta flow in the building, so it’s still fully active… that might be somewhat gay.” Roun explained now, not even sensing that Ryuu had already begun charging an attack.

“Ragna buster!” came the battle cry as Ryuu dashed forward, slamming his palm into the solid metal door, using his leech stream to draw in energy before detonating the attack in an explosive wave.

Roun and the Stryfes all activated their various barrier, shielding themselves from the energetic debris, an watching as the smoke cleared.  As the dust cleared, Roun’s eyebrow raised, as he scanned the door.  The energy had temporarily been diverted from the centre of the door by the attack, but it was not strong enough to destroy it, and it wasn’t long before the energy rushed back into the door, fortifying it once more.

“That’s one strong door…” Sieg now spoke, already charging an attack.  Paco glanced at his brother, sensing the energy spike and began to charge his energy again, causing Ryuu to do the same.

The resulting combined attack left a large dent in the fortified metal door, and the residual Cronos effect kept the energy from re-entering the structure long enough for Roun to blast it off it’s hinges with a beam of Buster energy.

“You know, something tells me that if it was that hard to get in, it might be a lot more difficult to get out…” Paco commented.

“Psh, we’ll be good.” Sieg retorted confidently taking a step forwards before pausing.  “But you should take point…” He laughed, drawing a look of minor displeasure from Paco.

“These guys are fairly retarded.”  Ryuu commented jokingly at the interactions between the brothers.

Despite his displeasure, Paco knew that this was the best idea and moved forward, shielding himself with his Chaos theory and vanishing from everyone senses.  Sieg did the same, causing Roun to shrug and activate his Silhouette veil, shielding himself and Ryuu.  Paco’s copies moved forward first, spreading out into the facility to get a feel for the place.  Unfortuunately, they wouldn’t last long enough to be effective, being taken out by what Paco could only make out as sonic disruptors.

“Okay Ro…” Paco paused, realising that his voice nor the transmissions of his comm. link could make it to Roun with his Chaos Theory activated.  Paco sighed, pausing for a bit to ensure that no defenses would attack him before dropping his cloak.  Roun noticed his cloak drop and did the same, raising an eyebrow at Paco.

“I’ve encountered defenses around all three corners, can you see anything?” Paco inquired, pausing for a bit to notice that Sieg hadn’t decloaked.

“Uhm let’s see… they seem to be some kind of disruption cannons… either sound or EM based… effective area of about 50 meters, output somewhere between 50 and 120 s.p. per second.” Roun explained, before they all sensed a powerful attack around the corner.

The team sprinted to see what was going on, only to notice the residual kratos and cronos in the area, signalling that Sieg had just been here.

“For the record, having a stealth technique, in which you can’t receive communications, is retarded…” Ryuu commented, as he tried to get a hold on Sieg.  “You know what, Roun, deal with that.”
Within seconds, Roun located Sieg, and using his tunnel driver he stuck his hand through the distortion barrier, grabbing loki by the shirt and nulling the technique.

“That technique is bad, we need to maintain communication.”  Roun explained.  “Or we’ll be running around with our head cut off.

“And doing piss…” Ryuu continued for added effect, drawing laughter from the Stryfes.

With this decision made, the group continued inwards cautiously.   With their various barriers deactivated, this increased their chances of taking damage, a reality that none of them were very happy with.

“I say we split up, I’ll look for a control room or something, Paco, you can continue to look for the generator.” Sieg sounded before running into the wall and activating his Chaos Theory.  Unfortunately, this didn’t go quite as planned, causing the Oyan to slam into the wall and fall to the ground.  Laughter started again, as Sieg made it to his feet and placed his hand on the wall, attempting to use Chaos Theory to move through it.

“What the hell!?”  He exclaimed as his technique failed.  “Roun!?”

Roun scanned the wall, but could find nothing wrong with it.

“The hell!?”  came the explanation from Paco.  “I could be wrong, but I think my clones just found the entrance… but I don’t remember circling.”

“Argh…”
