Travel System
The time
taken to travel to a location in
R.E.Load depends on the mode of
transportation that one employs. The
different modes of travel are:
Walking:
With the
fusion of the worlds throwing the
commercial transport industry into
chaos, New-Gaian have taken to
Trekking as the primary mode of
transport. This allows players
to move 1 square in a day to any
adjacent land mass which is not
separated by water.
Riding: Not the
most common methods of transport,
due to advent of more technological
advancements. By riding on
other creatures, players can
sometimes travel faster than 1
square per day. The rate of
travel is determined by the speed of
the mount. Mount speeds are
broken down into the same four
classes as hovercrafts.
Teleportation:
These are a standard part of the
infrastructure in New Gaian
settlements. These are broken
down into two categories.
Short Range
Teleporters run on the
natural power of the city allowing
citizens to utilise them, free of
cost, to travel between any two
areas linked by teleporters
instantly. These allow players
to explore cities that span multiple
squares in a single day without
additional travel.
Long Range
Teleporters require more
energy that can be taken from the
city's power grid, as a result users
are required to insert cores into
these teleporters. By
combusting the core and releasing
all the stored energy at once, these
teleporters can transport the user
across multiple squares. These
are used to travel between different
cities occupied by the same clan.
To avoid the degradation of these
teleporters, unlike Short Range
Teleporters, patrons are only
allowed to use one Long Range
Teleporter per day. Areas
linked by these teleporters are
denoted by a yellow dot: " "
Commercial
Teleportation:
These portals,
unlike the standard teleportation
centres are actually run by the
private sector. These portals
allow the user to instantly
transport to any location where a
corresponding teleporter operated by
the same company is located,
facilitating 1 day travel.
These
commercial teleporters tend to only
be located in Settlements, as
creatures in the field tend to make
it impossible for teleporters in
those locations to be maintained.
Areas linked by these teleporters
are denoted by a green dot " "
Purchased and Custom Hovercraft:
Squares traveled per day are
determined solely by the top speed
of the craft, and therefore depend
on Armour, Chassis size and the
thrust output by the vehicles
Engines.
Essentially, with a top speed of
100km/h, a vehicle can travel
roughly 1 square per day. With
a top speed of 300 km/h, the engines
of a vehicle provide a high enough
weight/thrust ratio to facilitate
safe intercontinental travel (IC
Travel).
Vehicles
capable of IC travel are broken down
into Four (4)
classes, according to the maximum
amount of time taken to reach any
destination on the planet.
Top Speed and Travel Speed
Class System:
This is the class system used to
identify the travel speeds of
Hovercrafts and Mounts.
Class 1:
Top speed (x) 300 < x > 600 (i.e.
top-speed is greater than 300 but
less than 600 km/h), these travel an
average 3 squares per day and take a
maximum of 4 days to get to the
farthest square away from them (12 sqaures)
Class 2:
Top speed (x) 600 < x > 900, These
travel at roughly 6 squares per day
and these take a maximum of 2 days
to travel 12 squares.
Class 3:
Top speed (x) 900 < x > 1200.
These vehicles also have a maximum
travel time of 2 days, however
unlike Class 2 vehicles, they can
travel to most locations in just 24
hours.
Class 4:
Top speed of 1200 km/h or higher.
These vehicles are guaranteed to
have sustained speeds high enough to
cope with changing whether
conditions and still still complete
any planetary flight in 24 hours or
less.
