Negotiations: Mercenary, Passive Action. (25/12/2401) |
|
Despite their persuasiveness, it seemed that the Mercenary Army and the benefactors of the Tracking Dsayta quest had two very different things in mind. The Mercenary Army, who had found themselves at odds with this research team, had been more interested the utilisation of the data retrieved from the facility for military purposes, while it seemed that all the research team seemed interested in was information that would shed light on the two mysterious new flavours of Zeta, Z-type and V-type. This made the negotiations rather difficult, as it seemed that it would be difficult for the two to find a middle ground. The team had no problem sharing their information with the Mercenary Army, as they had planned to make the findings of their study public upon completion anyway, but they did express opposition to releasing the data to the Mercenary Army exclusively. When added to the fact that weapons development and military application of technology was far outside of the expertise of most of the members of the team, it began to seem as if a reasonable compromise was even impossible. With negotiations coming to a close, the scientists left the Army with a single option, one which they considered to be quite reasonable. In addition to making the findings of their study readily available to the public once they had finished, the also agreed to release the information collected from the memory cores in their raw form to the Mercenary Army and any other organisation that felt that they could benefit from the data. The team also offered to collaborate with the Mercenary army on future projects, though they did admit that they were not sure what they would be attempting next, giving the size and time-consuming nature of their current study. The Mercenary Army would be left to consider their offer, having some time before they were needed to give a final answer and/or formulate a back up plan. Outcome: The Mercenary Army are yet to make their decision. |
