Mediator: Crydus does some investigation (24-02-2403)
Having taken a break from training the Xelot Metahuman Field Team, Crydus decided to look into some of the leads that the Xelots had acquired due to their collaboration with the English and French Governments. His first stop would be Nottingham, where it seemed that anti-channeler sentiments present in that area had been making things relatively rough for the civilian channeler populace in the area. As Crydus made his way there, he could instantly feel the change in the atmosphere, noting now that he drew a great deal of attention from all of those present as he moved around the small residential area and tried to collect some information.
As the intelligence suggested, the non-channelers there would be less than cooperative, preferring not to deal with Crydus’ kind or suggesting that he could proceed in the investigation without the help of ‘users’. This however did not amuse the Knight of the Xelots, who was forced to now resort to questioning the channelers present so that he could at least hear their side.
From what Crydus could gather from his talks, it seemed that the same anti-channeler hostilities linked to the true world war, had crept its way into England, despite the best efforts of the Council of Xelots, and it seemed that people were quickly forgetting just how big a role these same channelers that they now hated so much, had played in ensuring their personal safety and freedom. Crydus sighed at the silliness of it all. As a result of this, it seemed that civilian channeler had become the targets of their aggressions, suffering reversions at the hands of angry enhanced non-channelers. However, what Crydus found to be particularly odd from all of the stories which he collected was the massive power gap that seemed to exist between the civilian channelers and the ‘power-users’ that attacked them. From his knowledge of the Scion program, civilians were only augmented so that their physical abilities were on par with those of the average low level channeler, however it seemed more like these civilian channelers were getting into conflicts with military or combat enhanced non-channelers. This seemed all too curious.
The forced Crydus to return to his previous target group, the non channelers as he now tried to figure out if any of them specifically had actually attacked or harassed any of the civilian channelers. Much to his confusion, despite many of the users sharing the anti-channeler sentiment, he was yet to encounter one that actually acted on it in a way that resulted in the victimisation of a channeler like what the reports were suggesting. Crydus puzzled momentarily as he came to a single pair of alternate conclusions: Either the civilian channelers were making this all up, or there was some mysterious force at work victimising the civilian channelers while posing as civilian enhanced users. He would need to do some serious further investigation to get to the bottom of this.
