Mass Infiltration: Rom takes his Mercenary Initiation Test (13-03-2403)
With the information that Bayman had given him, ROM began his stakeout of the facility which Bayman suspected could be an unregistered user-enhancement facility. Given his unique abilities, ROM had quite a number of options with regards to how he would actually approach this assignment and unlike most, he decided that he would explore as many of these possibilities as he could. As ROM sat on the outside of the facility, he utilised his natural scanning abilities to get a feel the environment, while he sent a number of his SPLICEs to get the information that he needed. The initial ROM would act as the scout, detecting the scanning systems of the facility and leading the others around the scanning systems so that they could avoid detection.
Unfortunately for ROM, despite his abilities, he was not fully able to detect all of the facility’s scanning systems, making the detection of his SPLICEs almost guaranteed. Luckily, ROM had already planned for this. As each of his SPLICEs were discovered they would power up their M-Overload and detonate, causing massive destruction to the facility before the initial ROM would SPLICE and send in more troops, which would avoid the pathways which his previous ROMs had taken. Needless to say, the constant detection of threats and the constant explosions would be enough to cause a more proactive response from the security forces of the facility, causing them to actively equip themselves with the custom made security exo-suits and move outwards into the environment surrounding the facility to search for their attackers. As the did this, ROM would be forced to fully activate his stealth capabilities and push his SPLICEs so that they could more quickly infiltrate the facility and at least gain some information on it. Unfortunately, it would now become a race against time.
The Omni-scanners of his pursuers would scan over the environment as they attempted to detect him, failing to actually distinguish the stealth user from his environment. This would not deter his pursuers however as they now began to take it to the environment with the anti-personal vulcans mounted on their exo-suits. ROM would buckle down now and hope for the best, but to no avail as his attackers would eventually connect with his form, causing his stealth to flicker as they now turned all their attentions towards him.
Back on the inside, his SPLICEs were not having any easier a time. Each time they made it further into the facility, they seemed to be met with ever superior shielding, making it more and more difficult for him to detect anything that was going on. This pretty much confirmed that their was indeed something going on within the facility, but unfortunately ROM just couldn’t get any evidence to prove that they were indeed developing power users.
Back on the outside, the original ROM would be forced to SPLICE outwards, creating a number of replications to amplify the effects of his White Noise as he attempted to disorient his attackers. This would be combined with a number of his other offensive abilities, primarily his M-Overload as he attempted to fend off the squadron of exo-suit pilots. This would simply be to no avail however due purely to the overwhelming numbers. As this point, ROM would be forced to transfer all of the damage from all of his SPLICEs into those under attack by the Exo-Suits before they exploded and obliterated the area.
For each ROM now, curses would resonate though their skulls as they realised that their escape plan was indeed out of the window. Each of them would SPLICE now and attempted to send their copy in an attempt to clear the facility by retracing their steps, but they would unfortunately be met by the security team which was no returning to the facility to deal with the internal threat.
Further curses would resonate as the ROMs were slowly picked off within the facility, being dispatched by everything from the facility’s extensive internal automated defences. This was not to say however they no progress would be made. A single ROM would make it to the centre of the facility where low and behold he would set his eyes upon their most central of projects a single tank with an odd gelatinous liquid inside of it. ROM would just seem puzzle as he locked the doors to the room and dropped his stealth, investigating the room thoroughly. As he moved into the room, he would attempt to access the local network but would find himself unable to do so due to his inability to actively hack their systems. This would force him to try to get information from a more observational method. As far as he could tell, the facility was definitely not set up for mass user enhancement, but the facility did seem like it was designed to upgrade non-channeler humans in some undefined way. ROM growled lightly now as he tried to access more information but a single massive chop would be enough to drop him to his knees before he could even notice anything within the room.
“I have one of the intruders...” Came the voice from behind ROM as he struggled to shake off the stunning effects of the powerful blow.
“We’re dealing with the others as well, they all seem to just self destruct once they are detected.” Another voice came over the comm. link now.
“Yeah, their seriously messing up the facility, but at least they’re posing no threat to our secrets.” Another security member sounded.
“Damn right, dead men tell no tales.” Another laughed over the comm. link. “So fuck these damn jihadists.”
As the ROM in the room turned to face his attacker now, his White Noise emanated from his form now as he charged his M-Overload into his palm and transferred it to his opponent, causing a chunk of the ripped user’s form to simply combust. ROM jaw would have dropped if it could however as his opponent just simply stared down at him.
“Is that all that you have?” He inquired now, launching a powerful hook punch.
ROM would duck under the attack and weave to avoid the two follow ups as the user dashed towards him now. The Deviant would engage his Plain Walker to allow his attacker to pass through him and slam into the wall behind him. ROM would then spin to only catch the glimpse of an attack being charged before he himself was pinned to a wall with an electrical discharge. Another charge from his opponent would actually slam into ROM now, causing a small dent in the reinforced wall before his opponent went to work on the stunned Deviant, scoring three quick uppercuts to the gut before a straight thrust to his head collapsed in ROM’s skull. ROM would make a quick scan to see if there were any other SPLICEs left in the facility or at least within his area of influence, absorbing their damage before self destructing to blast his assailant away.
The remaining ROMs within the facility would start to SPLICE like crazy as they all made their breaks for the outside, knowing that only one would have to escape for the mission to be considered a success. Without the ROMs automatically self destructing, the security teams of the facility would find themselves having a much harder time to actually dispatch each SPLICE, especially given the Deviants naturally high health quota.
“We can’t allow him them to leave, barricade the facility and begin a central purge.” Came a voice of the comm. links causing the security forces to now begin to evacuate the facility while spreading suppression fire to keep the escaping ROMs within the facility.
Noting this, ROM would decide to end it all, simultaneously detonating all of the ROMs still within the facility to release the full quote of his Bio Force to rock the facility itself. Some distance away, a single very exhausted SPLICE would collapse to its needs in soft reversion, cursing to himself that he would not have the stamina to regenerate himself and relay what he had seen to Bayman. ROM would have to hope that what he knew was good enough since he possessed no tangible information from the now heavily damaged facility.
Outcome: ROM has confirmed for himself that the facility was indeed designed to house some kind of a user enhancement program though it seemed to be more geared towards the creation of a single power user super soldier than the mass upgrade of a power user army. Unfortunately, ROM has no actual evidence to support this claim so further investigations will have to be carried out.
