Acquisition of Allies: Demai entourage talk to Kai’en (20-03-2403)
So far Jais had been handling the diplomatic relations between the Demai and the Kai’en, but Tiana couldn’t help but realise that his approach to gain an audience with the leader of that clan seemed a bit indirect. She watched as Jais left her Hyper Elixer early that morning and went out to mingle with the Kai’en people, trying his best to get a feel for both the people and their customs before he tried his hands at engaging them in trade. Tiana would sit back and watch from their ship, leaving Jais to deal with the specifics of his interactions as his physical characteristics, the dark skin and white hair, allowed him to blend in well with the Kai’en people and move around without drawing too much attention to himself. Even though this worked to his advantage, Tiana still found it to be rather pointless, especially since as the daughter of Rayad Demar, she was like any other Oyan princess, making it exceedingly easy for her and those with her to gain a meeting with the Kai’en leader. Regardless of this however, this was Jais’ show, so she would bide her time and wait to see what her subordinate could do on his own.
While Tiana waited, Jais was getting accustomed to Kai’en haggling, and even though he had been swindled out of quite a few cores, he was slowly getting accustomed to the tricks of the trade as he investigated their trading practices. He quickly learned that as traders, they dealt in many things, but there were only two things that truly made Sezgard unique. Their transport services which allowed customers to be transported by Nix to a number of remote places and their well of information which they were more than willing to share, for a price.
Jais would then go on in his attempts at selling off one of the Demai’s nano-pods, which had been designed for them by Amanda Real, first demonstrating its ability to autonomously repair damaged constructs and then showing off its abilities to freely upgrade technology. This in itself made it quite handy, because even though the abilities were not particularly unique, the fact that it allowed even the average, non-technically inclined to perform such tasks was very useful. Utilising what he had learned about their bartering, Jais then went about trying to sell the piece of technology to one of the shop owners, a task that took quite some time. However he managed to pull it off, and actually managed to make back the money that he had lost through haggling earlier. Jais smirked now as he returned to report to Tiana. He would find her sitting in the cockpit of the Zeta Hyper Elixer with her feet on the front panel, waiting patiently for Jais’ return. Jayce and Rule however were another matter, with both of them just wanting to get all this diplomatic stuff over with as soon as possible so that they could go back to doing what they were good at.
“Okay Jais, my brothers seem to be getting rather bored, what do you say we accelerate this somewhat?” Tiana inquired now, causing Jais to nod.
“Very well Sargeant, I will set up a meeting with the leader.” Jais replied now.
“Already taken care of, let’s just get this overwith.” Jayce interjected in his usually emotionless voice before making his way towards the exit. Rule would grin and follow before Tiana mobilised the R.E.D Agents and they all made their way towards the palace of the Kai’en clan leader.
“Good Evening.” Jais greeted the medium build channeler who was decked out from head to toe in a rather elaborate techno-organic armour.
“Good evening Mr. Roseaux.” The woman replied, taking Jais back somewhat due to the generally androgenous armour design. “We have been awaiting your arrival for quite some time.” She stated now. “I find it very interesting that you would get to know my people before coming to see me directly, clearly this is of importance to you.” The woman continued, causing Jais to nod.
“Yes it is, the Order of Demai is interesting in becoming a permanent trading partner with your clan. Your ability to locate, collect and deal rarities makes this partnership very appealing to us.” Jais explained, being replied to by mild laughter.
“I see, so what does your Order have to offer us.” She inquired now, causing Jais to present her with the Nanotech pods and a sample of their enhancer technology which they had acquired from a sample of Drago’s technology. “Hm, interesting... but this is hardly enough to come and make a deal with.” She replied, causing Tiana to interject now.
“This is merely the tip of the ice-berg, Demar Enterprises was a multinational organisation in Terra and though our reach may have been reduced, our resources are still very much intact, we deal in many things...” Tiana explained confidently, drawing intrigue from the Kai’en clan leader.
“I see, perhaps a docier on your productions would serve to be more convincing.” The Kai’en leader stated, causing Tiana to pull up such a file on her Data Pad before walking up to her and allowing her to view the device. Tiana’s eyebrow would raise as the Kai’en leader grabbed her forearm before taking the device, allowing her grip to linger for just too long. Tiana’s Purifying Light activated automatically now, having little effect on the perfect level channeler, who just smirked and released her grip to look at her smoking palm now before her gaze turned back towards the Data Pad.
Tiana would contain her disdain now, playing her proverbial ‘poker face’ as the armoured female read through the long list of Demai products. “Your Order would indeed make beneficial trading partners...” She stated in a low voice, before turning her attention back to Tiana. “...and I think that I’m taking a liking to the Demai already.” Jayce, Rule and Jais just looked on, slightly puzzled by the exchange now as Tiana took the Data Pad back and made her way back over to her subordinates. “Tell your leader that I will be in touch.”
“Thank you very much.” Jais replied, noting that Tiana was no longer talking. “Is there anything that the Order can do for you, to solidify our Trading partnership?” Jais inquired now before almost literally feeling the smile break from beneath the armoured mask.
“Indeed.” Came the reply, laced with pleasure. “There is something that you can do for me...”
Outcome: The Demai have secured the trading agreement with the Kai’en, and have acquired a small task to solidify this partnership.
