Making 'Friends': Nicholas tries to convince Gargoyle to go with him to Merricent (20-03-2403)
Having travelled with the creature for so long, Nicholas’ first order of business was learning his name so that he could better him. Once this was done, he would then try to slowly probe him for information and persuade Kiaidon to return with him to Merricent.
Despite having a very simple and direct plan, Nicholas was smart enough to spread the plan out over a number of days, as not to seem to inquisitive or persistent and of course, to avoid annoying his travelling partner any further. The first thing Nicholas would be interested in would be Kiaidon’s Omega Shield technique, something that he found particularly interesting in a none-Terran entity. Amusingly enough, the Gargoyle also had a similar question, as he was quite sure that it was the ancestors of his race that had developed the unique overdrive which allowed them to perform all of their Omega Abilities. This puzzled Nicholas greatly, but Kiaidon would not let on much more about that matter, specifically avoiding stating who the ancestors of his race actually were, forcing Nicholas to drop this issue.
Next he would try to determine Kiaidon’s business in the Feld Tundra. He would start out by inquiring whether or not there were other Gargoyles present in the area, question to which he would only get vague or ambiguous replies, as seem to become the custom in their conversations. Nicholas would not allow this to deter him however, as he now offered to assist Kiaidon in finding any other Gargoyles that might be there, and suggesting to him that with the Rogues’ satellite scanning capabilities, the task could be made far easier if he travelled with him to Merricent. Nicholas also remarked that even if there were no more of his kind in Frostmore, the Rogues could still assist him in locating them in other locations.
Nicholas would also offer to assist him in any other tasks that he was performing in the remote location in exchange for Kiaidon returning to Merricent with him, and when this seemed not to work he then suggested that if Kiaidon was not out there for any particular reason, that he should travel with him to Merricent which was far more hospitable than the frigid Feld Tundra.
Needless to say, after days of such conversations, and Kiaidon trying to deter Nicholas with only vague replies, the Gargoyle began to get rather annoyed by his travelling companion’s persistence. He could only think that if this Tyler Cage who was so anxious to see him was even half as persistent as Nicholas, he would never be able to complete his task in the area. So after a full week of perstering, Kiaidon would finally give in, albeit begrudgingly and agree to travel to Merricent with the young Scion. He would do so under a number of conditions however. He and Nicholas would not travel together ever again, and he would make his own way to Merricent where he would contact Tyler and arrange a meeting. She would meet with the Gargoyle alone and promise not to pursue him again. Once all of Kiaidon’s stipulations were agreed to by Nicholas, the Scion would offer his assistance one last time, and literally be chased off by the extremely annoyed Gargoyle.
Nicholas would contact Tyler and inform her of Kiaidon’s stipulations, who would agree whole-heartedly. With her requirements met, she would then make the necessary applications for Nicholas to become a member of the Rogue Field Team. Nicholas would grin broadly now, his mission was finally accomplished.
Outcome: Nicholas has passed his test, Kiaidon has agreed to meet with Tyler over the weekend where she can get her scans.
