A Simple Plan: Rogues and Cloud pursue freelance mercenaries (30/06/2403)
Being the mission leader, Serai had requested the presence of Roun and his team to assist him his task, and had accepted the offer of assistance from the Mercenary Cloud, who had been known to work with the faction in the past. To ensure that everything was in order before the execution of the mission, the three groups of channelers, Roun and his squad, Serai and his squad and Cloud and his squad, would meet and break up into different teams before going over the plan one final time.
The group would be broken down into a three member infiltration team, consisting of Roun, Daito and Cloud’s subordinate Isis, and two strike teams, one led by Cloud and the other led by Serai. Given Serai’s last run in with the mercenary band, their initial plan was simple rather simple, involving Serai getting the attention of their targets once again. His Khaaos electrical storm would do the trick, once again alerting the very annoyed mercenaries to his present. Once again however, Serai would find himself standing in an area which prohibited his targets from firing on him without risking the attention of the local law enforcement, forcing them to send out channelers to deal with this annoyance once more.
From their previous run in, they had noted Serai’s ability to deal with speedsters, this time opting to send out six stealth users to quietly dispatch and abduct Serai so that they could question him. The stealth users exited the facility without being detected, and quietly made their way towards Serai’s location before sensing Haezar who was with him as well. This complicated things slightly, but six boss-tier stealth users were still more than enough to revert a single boss and player-tier channeler.
The superb stealth of their attackers would only be broken instants before they attack, preventing the slow Haezar from doing much other than power up his Permenant attributes to maximum, while Serai tried to get off an explosive wave. Their attacks would impact and would easily take both Serai and Haezar down to critical health before Serai’s explosive wave could send all six channeler’s flying. This would be the cue for Cloud and the others to spring their trap.
Cloud, Nicola and Marcus would focus their offensive power on one of the stealth users, while Leon, who had now assumed Haezar’s form, Jada and Brad focussed their offensive capacity on another stealth user. While they did this, Raena’s Terra Spore spread through her area of influence, allowing her to teleport to Serai and Haezar’s location before commencing their healing.
Away from this commotion, Roun, Daito and Isis were now contemplating how they were going to get into the facility. Like everyone else, they were not able to see the deployment of the stealth users, and as a result missed their opportunity to sneak stealthily into the facility. Luckily, their problems would be solved as the deployment bay quickly swung open to release another six mercenaries in an attempt to even the odds between their attackers and their men which were currently outside.
Back in the commotion, the two teams were having a much harder time reverting their targets that had been anticipated. Even with their initial stun lock, Cloud, Nicola and Marcus had only managed to get their target into critical before he Omega Shielded their assault and released a wave of energy to cover his stealth retreat. The lower level team of Leon, Brad and Jada had even less luck, losing their target when he was only at half health, before they were forced to spread their attention to the other stealth users who had vanished while they were focusing on a single opponent. Cloud would be the first to suffer a stealth attack, being the largest ethereal signature and hence the channeler rated as the biggest threat. The attack would force him to focus his energy on his Ultimate Guard but as the barrier went up and he turned to retaliate he would find that his attacker had been long gone. Raena would suffer a similar fate as her healing was taken note of, bringing her inches away from reversion before she instantaneously vanished from her location. At this moment, a concoction of flames would engulf the battlefield as Marcus, Nicola and Serai combined their energies to seek out the stealth users, only to find themselves now under attack by two speedsters and four scrappers in addition to the stealth users.
On this inside, Roun, Isis and Daito found themselves in the deployment room, on the inside of the facility, but getting any further in would be quite the task. Like in most facilities, this deployment room was like an air lock, essentially stopping speedsters and stealth users from sneaking into facilities while they were open and then waltzing into more sensitive areas. Roun and Daito would be forced to use their code transmission abilities now to penetrate the facility’s defences and make it into one of the secured room. This would not be an easy take, but it would be ultimately achieved through the use of their combined special abilities and Omega Drives, which allowed them the necessary channelling force and Code Mastery to shunt their energy through the facility’s internal walls. Once inside, they would attempt to make their way to the control room.
Back on the outside, the teams were struggling. Between Nicola, Serai and Marcus, they had managed to revert the two damaged stealth users, and whittle down the health of most other channelers present, but Raena, and Marcus had both already been forced to leave the battle due to massive health loss from single attacks, taking the two reverted stealth users with them. This pushed the odds further in the favour of their opponents, who were now focussing their assaults on the annoying Jada Jinn, the only remaining healer on the team. Realising this, Serai, Haezar and Nicola banded together to do their best to protect her, while she did her best to sway the battle in her team’s favour. Unfortunately with the odds being seven against twelve, all they could hope to do was keep the mercenaries busy while Roun, Daito and Isis gained a useful amount of information.
On the inside, their brute force entry had already alerted those on the inside to their presence, resulting in a lock down of the facility while they searched for Roun and his team. However, with both Daito’s and Isis’ energy and code having been absorbed into Roun’s form, compressed and shielded using his Crisis Cloak, locating the fast moving amalgam of channelers was a task which proved to be nigh impossible. Moving at just a fraction of the speed of light, Roun, Daito and Isis would material in the control room of the facility in no time where they would find a team of three controller class channelers operating the systems. Roun would smirk now, vanishing from his location and grabbing one of the controllers, before powering up his Imperial Break to maximum and telefragging the young man into code. Roun would smirk as he turned his attention to the other two controller’s now, who didn’t even bother to attack him but simply fled the area, only to get cut off by Daito and Isis who were looking for some action. Roun would then activate a dual casted Uplink, utilising his Infinite Aura to quickly absorb all of the information present in their databases, while his Imperial Break and Crisis Core compressed the data in energy cores which he could store and allow his faction to look through later.
Back on the outside, Serai would finally give the word to retreat, causing the entire team of seven channelers to Omega Flash out of the losing battle. By now, Daito and Isis would be done dispatching their controller targets, leaving the facility at the mercy of these three techies. While Roun downloaded the information, Isis would lock down the facility, preventing the channelers on the outside from making their way back in, while locking those left inside out of the control room. This would only last some time however, as the combined might of multiple Boss-tier channelers would be enough to penetrate the facility’s walls, much in the same way as how the three channelers had actually go it. For this reason, Daito would monitor the security systems, while attempting to get a hold of the local authorities.
Despite their best efforts however, Roun would simply not be able to download all of the information present in the facility, eventually cutting his losses and disabling the facility’s shielding before once again absorbing Daito’s and Isis’ forms into his and Silhouette Sliding away to meet the others. A single Aero infused core would be enough to destroy the more sensitive equipment in the control room. The Rogues could only hope that the Malaikin authorities would get to their location fast enough to apprehend some suspects of their own.
Outcome: The infiltration team has amass a massive amount of data that will need to be sorted and decoded. The strike team has captured two prisoners and are awaiting transport to a Rogue Facility.
