The Power of the People: Rogues oversee Malaikin and Titan negotiations (13/08/2403)

Their upcoming project had required the cooperation of both the Titan and Malaikin clans as they assisted the Rogue Special Forces on a unique piece of technology, and as payment for this favour, the Rogues were charged with the task of arranging and securing a meeting between these two clans as the Titan representative attempted to rekindle the alliance between that clan that the Malaikins, an alliance which these two clans had shared prior to the split of the original clan of Itam intothe current Itami and Titan clans.

The Rogues had agreed to the task set out by them, already having convinced the Malaikin diplomat to agree to the arrangement in a previous meeting.  Their task today would be to pick up and transport the two diplomats from their respective locations to a secure meeting place where the meeting could take place.  The Rogues could think of no location more secure than the Garrison given the sheer number of automated defences present at the facility, leaving the main problem as the transport of the diplomats from their locations to the Rogue Fortress.

For this, the group would split into two teams.  The first team, which would be assigned to transport and protect the Malaikin representative would consider of Roun, Nicola, Haezar, Serai, Leon and Jada; while the second team consisted of Reign, Jinzo, Paco, Tyra and Daniel.  As expected, Roun’s team would escort the Malaikin representative while Reign’s team escorted the Titan representative.  Interestingly enough, no member of the field team seemed to give much thought to who would actually be attempting to stop such talks, but simply prepared any eventuality of an attack.

As each team left The Garrison, they would head to their required destinations.  Roun and Serai’s team would make their way towards a large house deep within the Merricent countryside, while Reign and Paco made their way to the local Port to pick up the Titan representative.  It was only upon their arrival that they would each realise where the threat was most likely to originate.  Given the general Oyan mentality, an attack on Malaikin soil by a foreign power would be an act of war, so it was a particularly bad idea for a foreign clan to launch some kind of assault to stop these talks.  However, like the Itamis, the Malaikins had gone to battle against the Titans more than once, and many Malaikins had lost their lives at the hands of Titan soldiers in battles.  With this considered, it was not hard now to understand why hordes of Malaikin nationals gathered at these points, picketing and protesting in a less than peaceful manner.

Luckily for Roun’s team, Serai actually had a relatively sound plan, albeit one that did not bode well for Roun’s ship, the Versillion.  The group would pull the usual bait and switch routine.  The Rogues would make their way into the residence of the Malaikin diplomat, where Leon would then morph his form to match the appearance of this man.  The team would then return to the Versillion, in view of public eyes before making their way off.  While this was happening, Roun would take the Malaikin representative and his personal guards to the garage, where they would use a less conspicuous vehicle to make their way to the garrison.  The plan worked well as the Versillion drew most of the aggression from the angry Malaikin citizens, being pelted at first with garbage and the like before a particularly passionate protestor actually launched a core at the vehicle.  The blast was enough to disable the vehicle’s shields and deal damage to its hull, forcing Serai to cut the theatrics and Nicola and Haezar powered up the ships and fired the burst thrusters to clear the area.  This would bring an end to the protesting in that area as the angry protestors did their best to follow the high speed vehicle.  Roun and those with him would wait until the area was clear before they made their way towards the Garrison in a considerably less conspicuous vehicle.

Reign and Paco would have a less technical plan, involving a simpler pickup and delivery strategy, hoping that the Kurudo’s natural defences and its high speed modifications would be enough to get them from the pickup point to the drop off point in a single piece.  Unfortunately for this team, they actually had the harder of the two jobs, as the representative who they were charged with guarding was actually more likely to warrant Malaikin aggression than one of their own.  Paco would realise this when he saw the crowd outside of the port of entry  only now realising that the transport of their target was actually the part that they had to worry about, more so than protecting the meeting room.  Reign on the other hand would be wondering exactly how word of this meeting managed to get out, especially details as specific as arrival and pick up times.  Being of Oyan origin, he knew that unlike in Terra, these kinds of meets were not broadcast over public networks, especially when the clan’s leaders knew full well that things like this could possibly happen.  This was all quite curious.

This team would waste no time making their way past the crowds and into the secure area of the port, where they would secure the Titan representative and his entourage.  From here, they would power up the Kurudo to maximum and leave the port at full thrust capacity, zipping overhead as the crowd below took out their aggression on the Medium Assault class ship.  Paco would curse as the vehicle registered damages, drawing a smile smirk from the mid-Boss tier Titan representative, who was actually quite intrigued with the passivity with which the Rogues had undertaken the task.  Had this been left in the hands of the Malaikin and Titan military, they would have forcefull cleared the streets to enforce order before taking their time with the transport.  Reign sighed, knowing this full well as well; had this not been a test of the Rogues’ capabilities, these people would not have even gotten the chance to gather in such a way as these areas and the roads being used to transport the diplomats would have been shut off a long time ago.

Nevertheless, and despite their methods and the heavy damages sustained by both medium assault class vehicles, both vehicles would make it to Rogue controlled space, where any pursuers would be at the mercy of the facility’s mounted and automated defences.  The fleet of All Terrain Turrets and Mobile Drones were enough to stop any pursuers in their tracks, allowing the two heavily damaged ships to make it back to the Garrison in one piece.  Sometime later, Roun and his team would arrive in an inconspicuous unmarked car, safe and sound, much to Serai’s pleasure.  Once on the inside the talks would begin, interestingly enough with both sides laughing at the Rogues’ less than impressive means of securing their arrival.

Once again it would be up to Roun and Reign to plead their cases, while the Malaikin and Titan representatives engaged in more informed political discussion as they really tried to work out how the initial phases of their relationship could be developed in hopes of it developing into a genuine alliance in the future.  The most major of the issues would be addressing the remaining bad blood between the Titan and Itami clans.  The talks would go on for some time, lasting late into the night, much to the dismay of the Rogue Special Forces, who were required to man their assigned posts for the entire time.

Outcome: Though there was only so much that could be achieved in a single day of talks, the Rogues have fulfilled their duties and have secured the assistance of the Titans and Malaikins in their upcoming project.  The Titans and Malaikins have agreed on a non-aggression pact between each other, but they have both agreed that this pact is essentially meaningless unless it involves the Itamis.  As a result, it is necessary for them to secure a meeting with representatives of all three clans.  Rogue assistance with this take is optional and it is up to the field team whether or not they would like to take on the responsibility for arranging such a meeting.

The Versillion has undergone considerable external damages with hull integrity being reduced to 40%, no internal systems have been damage.  Paco’s Kurudo has sustained similar damages, with hull ingrity reduced to 60% due to the riots.  No other damages have been sustained as there was no actual combat required.
