Unorthodox Plan: Rogues attempt Finding Dr. Mirakama Mission (28/08/2403)
As always, the Rogue unit grossly outmatched the assumed requirements for the mission, but this time they were forced to leave their heavy artillery at home as they now attempted to gain entry to a facility located within a residential class area. Serai would be mission coordinator for this mission and as such the plan would be expectedly unorthodox. Tyler had spent much of the time in transit working out the kinks in the plan, and more specifically correcting area involving herself and Roderick that she simply refused to go along with.
Despite her changes, the plan would be relatively intact, the group of 21 channelers would split up into three teams, a single infiltration team and two distraction teams. Tyler would take command of the external distraction team, while Paco lead the internal distraction team, leaving command of the infiltration team in the hands of Roun, the highest ranking member on that team. The initial part of their plan would be the riskiest, as it was one that banked heavily on their targets no possessing or using external automated defences on the approaching external distraction team. For this reason, Tyler abandoned the ‘peek-a-boo’ strategy proposed by Serai and went with a more conservative plan. Instead of rushing the facility personally, she and Reign would send their summons towards the facility instead, determining what kind of aggression they drew before they would actually risk moving forwards. While they did this, Roderick used his observations to determine the facility’s tactical capacity. As Tyler feared, their summons would not last very long at all. Their targets were intelligent enough to ensure that they did not fire their larger artillery, especially outside of the bounds of their facility, but they had no problem with vapourising the summons using their turrets at low outputs. Tyler sighed loudly now, noting instantly that the plan had been shot down before it really got off the ground.
Serai would curse loudly in the background, much to the amusement of his team, before Tyler ordered him to quiet down, something seemed to be coming. Raena would be the first to identify it, a small scouting party had been sent out to see who was snooping around the area. The party consisted of six channelers, a healthy size unit to send after what they assumed to be two summoners from the energy signatures of their minions. Raena would register the six channelers as they approached from some distance away, relaying this information to Tyler who would give the order for everyone to activate their Venom Suits and lay in wait. As the lay quietly on the ground, the scouting party would not even be aware of their presence until they accidentally stepped on Haezar. Within an instant, the group would drop stealth and unleashing a kaleidoscope of attacks that reverted two of the channelers on the spot, while the other 4 Omega Shielded the blasts. Nevertheless, 21 versus 4 were good odds for no one, and with their Omega Drives used up, there would be no escape from the swarm of channelers. The resulting beat down would seem almost criminal, but the Rogues would waste no time taking these six channelers and retreating back to their fleet of ships. They would need to interrogate the lot to gather more information on the facility, so that they could modify their plan to suit.
Outcome: The Rogues have determined that the military class installation which they are targeting is headquarter class and is heavily armed with both internal and external defences. Their targets are reluctant to use heavy artillery on the outside of the facility, but has no qualms about firing shots onto their own complex. The Rogues have also managed to extract information about security shifts and procedures, which should prove useful on their second attempt.
