Simple Reconnaissance: Thales does some preparation work (01/09/2403)
Thales couldn’t help but remember the oddly ‘pleased’ look that Tiana let slip when she was enlightened as to her plan, she hoped that her small action compounded with Jais’ promise would start raise Tiana’s faith in the rest of the field team. However, Thales would have little time to think about that as she sat outside of the facility and monitored it, while her subordinate Ken pulled up some information on military installations to give her a better idea of what she would be dealing with. From what she could tell, the facility in question was Headquarter class, possessing a full complement of eight turrets and two cannons which appeared to be relatively equally distributed and most definitely covered the entire complex with their ‘swivel’ range. She would determine however, that if she approached from the same side that a cannon was mounted on, she would only have to deal with one cannon rather than two, leaving that option open if her team chose to go that route.
Unfortunately, she would be unable to peer into the hangar to get a good idea of what ships were stationed there, but she could be sure that they possessed a number of Zeta Elixers, Zeta Sabers and Detrels as these were what the guards generally used to get around the complex as they made their rounds. No doubt there would be more powerful ships on the inside, but she was not sure if they would be able to match the current fleet of the Demai, which consisted of a carrier and two heavy assault vehicles. She would be able to accurately work out the guard numbers and their shifts, noting that the facility seemed to employ about 35 user guards with exo-suits designed to deal with military class Oyans. Like most military installations, entrances and exits would be few and would be very secured, being well guarded by exo-suit pilots and well in range of turrets and/or cannons. Thales would note each one to ensure that her team wasted no time during their mission however, before she now scoped out areas that she could place explosions to best disrupt the facility and its functions, automated defences, vehicular and personnel reponses, making a particular note of the communication structures and external barracks.
Once this was done, she and Ken would retreat to her Gull to work out combat and infiltration strategy, they would both agree that at this point both a direct assault and stealthed approach were viable options and it would really be up to the field team to decide their preference.
