Second Attempt: Rogues attempt to Finding Dr. Mirakama mission again (15/09/2403)

Once again the Rogue Field Team would take up their positions outside of the massive Headquarter class facility.  Since the abduction of six of their guards, the facility had been on particularly high alert and security had still not return to normal even after weeks.  The Rogue Special Forces were keeping these soldiers prisoner in Tyler’s Gawayne, which functioned as their mobile base for the moment, interrogating them to get as much information out of the group as possible.

The group would determine the exact location of their target through Persuasion, courtesy of Jinzo and Jada and this information would be relayed to the infiltration team, consisting of Roun, Yasmin, Raena, Daito and Leon.  This team would then circle the facility and lay in wait while the distraction team once again went to work.  This time, the facility would be rushed by a flood of summons as the resident summoners sent out their minions en masse to distract the facility’s automated defense.  By Serai’s suggestion, they would approach from vectors that made them most difficult to target by the base defences, and they would spread out to ensure that they could not all be dispatched quickly.  While the automated defences and the controllers that operated them were distracted with these nuisances, the infiltration team made their way towards the base from what they hoped would be its blind spot.

These five channelers all utilised their natural stealth, the venom suits and the security uniforms that they had acquired from their prisoners, ensuring that they drew as little attention to themselves as possible while the distraction team kicked up as big a fuss as possible.  This allowed the infiltration team to make it up to the departure bay of the facility just as the search teams were sent out.  Unlike the last time however, a mere six soldiers were not dispatched.  This time they would dispatch eight soldiers on Zeta Elixers and Zeta Sabers, as well as a squad of Whistler wielding snipers to ensure that they did not suffer the same fate as their predecessors.  This made for a rather big problem, one which would push the external team to their limits as the internal team made their way inside the facility.

The infiltration team would find themselves locked in the deployment bay, which utilised the same safety mechanism as the facility in Amridad that prevented them from just waltzing into the facility.  Roun would order the team to wait while the external team deal with their targets.

On the outside, things would not be going according to plan however, as the team of sixteen Rogue officiers, found themselves simply outgunned by the eight light assault vehicles and twelve laser wielding snipers.  At first the team would attempt to stand their ground, but it would not be long before they were forced to retreat towards the residential area, where they hoped that their opponents would not follow.  Much to their dismay however, this was not the case, forcing the Rogues to stand their ground and defend the residential area from their callous attackers.

Back on the inside, Roun would realise that the external team did not seem to be able to draw out another wave.  With a sigh, he would then command the entire team to combine their channelling force on a single spot as they attempted to breach the walls of the facility.  The task would require them all Omega Driving, an act that would instantly blow their cover but allow them to complete the task at hand.  Within seconds the group of five would be inside the main halls of the headquarter class facility, but it would not be long before armed guards came flooding down the path after them.

Yasmin and Roun would stay behind to deal with the guards, bother powering up to max and using their ethereal signatures to hide the escape of the three subordinates as they made their way to towards the control room under stealth.

Back on the outside, the Rogue team was struggling against their opponents, still unable to get the upperhand as a number of the weaker subordinates began to fall.  This left Serai on clean up duty, collecting the reverted subordinates and retreating to safety to ensure that they were not killed in the conflict.  As the situation became more dire, the team was forced to resort to more drastic measures.  Reign would cut massive chunks of his health and sacrifice it to power his Dagon Arc, a skill which would be augmented by Paco’s flames and Tyler’s explosive Operatic Rush.  These combined attacks would help to level the playing field, but they would not be enough to completed turn the tide.

On the inside of the facility, the speedy Roun was joined by Yasmin’ Cross morph and the two did their best to keep their attackers busy without accepting too much damage while their subordinates fled.  Roun in particular would offload with his Rogue Hand, releasing Crisis Core after Crisis Core with the projectile weapon.  These ridiculously powerful energy discharges would serve to do a great deal of damage, but even more so, they would maintain a dense enough ethereal cloud to mask the approach of the subordinates to the control room.  Once this was achieved, Yasmin and Roun would make a bee-line for that area, dropping a Core each into the fray to cover their narrow escape.

At the entrance to the control room, the team would once again be forced to activate their half depleted Omega Drives, utilising the rest of the energy instantaneously to breach the walls to this room now.  On the inside however, they would be met with jets of laser fire.  Roun and Daito would be the only two fast enough to avoid the initial laser fire while the others were burned from the attacks.  As the two speedsters appeared on opposite ends of the room, they would vanish again.  Daito would appear beside his three teammates and shunt them out of the way before he too found himself under fire, forcing him to flee again.  Roun on the otherhand was setting up a room wide Glyph utilising his Crisis Grid.  This would take a few seconds, in which the others suffered heavy damage, but the completion of the technique would be marked by the total nullification of energy within the room.  This brought everyone down to their user forms and deactivated the technology in the room as well, allowing the Rogues to scatter while Roun instantly bombarded the nearest Controller with a flail of physical attacks to dispatch them.  The ether null zone would only last a few seconds, but it would be enough for the Rogues to regroup.

Back on the outside, Serai had returned to the fray and put his poisonous flames to the mix, aiding the Rogues in making some semblance of a comeback against their opponents, but their number continued to dwindle as subordinates either reverted or were forced to Omega Flash away.  This was possibly the first time in a while that the team was actually able to see Tyler go all out, watching as their Field Team Leader was forced to activate her Musical Overload, energizing the entire battlefield and watching as their technologically enhanced opponents suffered.

On the inside, Roun and Yasmin would be telefragging the occupants of the control room left right and centre, quickly dispatching those present before they attempted to take control of the facility’s main control room.  This gave them complete access to all of the doors, traps and external defences of the facility as well as it’s communication systems.  Daito would instantly place the call to the external team that they had managed to secure the facility, while Raena took the time to heal those present before she and Roun were off again to find the doctor.

Unfortunately for the external team, by the time that the infiltration team had managed to take the facility, they had already finished dealing with their opponents, this would leave Daito to just open the main doors and allow them in to deal with the remainder of the troops on the inside.

As the external team now made their way towards the facility, Roun would zip around the facility at full speed with Raena in tow as he attempted to locate the doctor.  As was to be expected, the doctor was heavily guarded, but Roun had a simple yet effective plan.  Once again, the ether in the area would be nullified, instantly incapacitating the guards, while Raena stood outside of the range of this nullification field and shredded her opponents with her Emerald Dust.  The result would not be pleasant but it would be effective, allowing the two to secure the doctor and make their way back to rendezvous with their team.

The Rogue Field Team would flee the facility before the remaining soldiers trapped without could breach its walls, leaving the local authorities to clean up the mess.

Outcome: The Rogues have managed to secure the doctor and complete the mission, however their sloppy handling of the task has not earned them any additional jurisdiction within Crysworn.  Mission Complete.
