The Chosen: Bobby and Nikolai attempt Ellesium quest (05/08/2403)

The arrival of a light assault and a medium assault combined with an early anonymous tip-off had alerted the small group which had been hiding in the area to the presence of the Xelots long before they even approached the cave system which the small off-shoot of the Cleis del Angelus called home now.  As the ships landed, Bobby, Nikolai and Karl would all dawn their venom suits and proceed towards the mouth of the cave system which had been identified as the entrance to their targets’ territory.  Being smart, Bobby had made contact with the Cleis through the Xelot council to ascertain the function of the artefact which had been stolen.  He would learn that the small vase-like relic contained a protection charm, which greatly reduced aggression directed towards the owners.  It was this artefact that made it possible for them to set up a city in such a dangerous area as Tanami without city-class barriers and structural reinforcements.

Knowing this, the team proceeded towards the entrance of the cave system.  As expected, the Venom suits prevented them from passive detection, however, they did not prevent them from the active detection of their targets who anticipated their arrival.  Within seconds of entering the cave system, before they could even see the small settlement, they were attacked by a group of Kazerns.  This was particularly odd as these creatures tended to hunt alone, drawing the surprise of all present when Bobby and Nikolai both found themselves impaled with tail-spikes.  Luckily for both, they would not be reverted instantly from the sheer pain, as the tail-spikes impacted their arm and shoulder respectively, giving Karl enough time to deactive his venom suit and rush forward with his Righteous Will and launch a powerful double axe handle to the Kazern assaulting Nikolai now.  The attack would smash the scorpion into the ground violently as another two scorpions assaulted Karl, before Bobby and Nikolai also deactivated their damaged venom suits so that they could lend assistance.  Bobby would instantly go to work with his frost wolves while Nikolai drew his Dark Blade and rushed into the fray, fending off their attackers.

This stalling would give their targets enough time to mobilise their automated forces and send them towards the mouth of the cave to prevent the Xelot team from getting any farther while they dealt with what they could only assume to be domesticated Kazerns.  Within seconds, 12 humanoid automated units would flood into the cave system, wielding swords and shields with small cannons mouted on their shoulders.  Instantly the white streams of energy would tear through the ranks of the Xelots before Nikolai vanished now.  Bobby would waste no time unleashing his Celestial Judgement at full power in its laser mode to cut down one of the automated soldiers in a single hit, while Nikolai appeared behind them, his World Banisher fully charged as he now shunted two of the units into an alternate realm.  This would give Karl more time to deal with the Kazerns as both of his special abilities cranked up to the maximum.

Bobby would waste no time flooding the battlefield with clones now as he attempted to even out the odds and prevent them from being swarmed, while Nikolai’s Synchros Bolts and Anti-infinity Guage went to work glitching the technological units within his massive area of influence.  These skills began to turn the battle in their favour before another mass of automated ‘holy knights’ flooded into the tunnel, this time led by a single commander unit.  This would turn the tide now as their opponents became more coordinated, beginning first to pick off Bobby’s summons before they focussed in on Nikolai and his unique abilities.  Within the commotion however, Karl would reactivate his Venom suit and slip away through the madness, making his way deeper into the cave system.  Here he would find the remaining 10 units and two commanders guarding the entrance to the city.  Karly would try to sneak by them, but the venom suit would not work here, causing him to instantly draw fire which damaged his stealth suit, forcing him to retract it once again.  Now, he would be left alone to take on twelve opponents, quite the task even though they were all considerably lower in level than him.

Back in the mouth of the cave, Bobby and Nikolai had both engaged their Omega Drives and summoned their Drive Gears, which manifested as gun holsters and a combat helm respectively.  This allowed them to make relatively quick work of another 8 of the automated units, bringing their ranks down to just 9.  Their main problem however was the periodic attacks from the Kazerns and the coordination by the commander unit which made their lives rather difficult.  Nikolai would ask bobby to cover him now as he vanished one more time, using his Alter Travel to position himself behind the commander of the squad before opening a portal and reaching out, grabbing his target before shunting him into a dark realm and re-emerging back into this world.  Once again Bobby’s Celestial Judgement would reach its full charge, being summoned in its Gatlin gun mode to thin the ranks, a task which it was rather successful with.  Unfortunately, a single Kazern would emerge and dispatch the weapon, stunning Bobby briefly before it latched onto him and began to drag him off.  Nikolai would curse under his breath as this happened, summoning his book of souls to increase his channelling potential, further boosting his already Omega Driven form before expanding the effects of his World Banisher to encompass the entire battlefield.  The entire area would go black for a few seconds, before things returned to normal to reveal Nikolai hovering at the centre of a empty spherical space.  He would take a few seconds to recover from the attack before he now went after Bobby to see if he could save his ally.

Back at the entrance, the monstrous Karl had reached his limits, managing to dispatch four of the units before he was forced to activate his Personnel Teleporter and vanish to the comfort of Nikolai’s ship.  He would wait their momentarily before Nikolai arrived with a heavily damaged Bobby, emerging from a strange portal.  Nikolai would patch them up as best he could before they left the area and retreated to someplace safer, considering their first attempt a failure.
