Wrapping Up Timeless: Xelots and Mercenaries finish things in Timeless (06/08/2403)

While the Mercenaries, ROM and Elon, were finishing up the final bits of data collection, Gabrial and Fyst were taking a page out of Jubei’s book and working the diplomatic angle in an attempt to gain an audience with the Eldest without having to complete yet another or the ancient dragons cryptic tasks.

While they did this, the small army of Xelot knights and their automated units were preparing to make their first and hopefully final run of the massive Progression Shrine.  Having has some experience with this kind of operation from the Chaos Shrine, Deacon in particular knew what to expect, allowing the Strategic Master to lead the operation with some confidence, while the unexpected addition of Davius, Johnny and their two subordinates actually made things considerably easier than Jubei and Deacon had planned for.  The addition four Xelot would prompt a quick reshuffling of what now proved to be an almost 20 man strong team.  This amused the Eldest greatly, drawing a knowing sigh from the ancient dragon, who would have rather seen Jubei and Crydus go it alone but mused at their foresight to bring such a large squadron of channelers.

As they once again activated the console, the entire team would be transported to the parallel bubble of time where the shrine existed.  Under Deacon’s leadership, Crydus in his Chronaika’s Rune would lead the party into the building, while Davius’ binding summon and Raen’s unique abilities scouted the external area for more traps and sought to disable them.  This allowed the Xelots to steer clear of pesky traps, while Crydus’ temporal abilities and Geon allowed him to temper the abilities of the lock long enough for Deacon’s Disca to simply dissipate the effects.  Once they were in they would break into a unique formation which placed the automated units on the periphery, while the Xelots moved as a tight group in the centre, no doubt a strategy devised due to the difficulty they experienced during their last Shrine run when they split up.

In this formation, they would head directly for the core of the facility, where they would seek to shut down and remove the facility’s power supply as they had done once before.  Their path would be blocked by a number of obstacles, from time imbued guardians to more temporal shattering cannons and temporal stasis fields, but the sheer numbers of the Xelot squadron simply made the battles particularly inconsequential.  Any damage that they took would be quickly healed by Raen, but with the sheer number of summons present in the area, there was simply not enough fire to make it through all of the fodder and the six Droidekas to reach the Xelot Knight contingent.  Despite this, the Xelots were still quite cautious, but in the end, their run was an exceptionally easy one.  They would make it to the centre of the facility and dispatch the extremely power, temporally imbued elemental at the centre with a simple concentration of extreme force.

Once this was done, they would remove the facility’s rather unique power supply as well as an all too familiar artefact from the centre of the shrine.  Once this was done, they would proceed back to the entrance and take one of the external paths.  With the automated security features disabled, they were left to deal simply with the guardians of the shrine, a task that was now even easier than before.  The rest of their Shrine run would proceed without notable incident as the Xelot forces simply crushed all in their path, retrieved the necessary artefacts and left the shrine.

Within moments they would return to conventional space to greet the Eldest and inform him of their success, something which the ancient dragon accepted as an inevitability given the sheer numbers which had been taken.  Not all too impressed, but still slightly amused, he would turn over custodianship of the artefacts to the Xelots, explaining that they were designed to be guarded by humans and the Dragons truly had no place being in possession of such artefacts.  His handing over of the artefacts came with a warning however, on which did not fall on deaf ears.

“Should you stray from the path set forth for you by the universe, and delve into the petty squabbles of selfish men, your worthiness to be custodians of such a power shall undoubtedly be revoked.  If such a time should come, you would have made an enemy of the De’raks of Timeless and we would be forced to return the artefacts to their resting place where the worthy shalt claim them again.”

His words would only bring a smile to the face of Deacon as he now looked over his charges, ensuring that the Eldest’s words had reached them.  “As agents of righteousness, it is our ever present duty to stand above subjective notions like selfishness and pettiness in pursuit of the greater good for all.”  Deacon stated now, speaking for all of those under his command.  “Should we be deemed unfit by a higher power to possess such a gift, then it shall be on our own honour that we will return these artefacts to the shrine ourselves.”  He stated now.

As he made his way out of the area with his charges, Jubei would stay behind to chat with the Elder, attempting to make more clear sense of his Cryptic words before he left the quarry which housed the powerful Ultimate-tier entity.

Outcome: The Xelots have retrieved the artefacts necessary for the possession and implementation of the Progression break as well as a second strange ‘generator’ of sorts.  These artefacts have been transported to Odessa where research on this second Component Break is to begin.  Droideka’s sustained minimal damages.
