Kid In A Candy Store: Rei explores the Arc of Hern (11/08/2403)

It had taken Rei quite some time to figure out that she had managed to reactive the facilities unique stealth systems, and even more time before she realised that she was actually trapped in the facility.  Surpringly enough, it took her considerably less time to overcome the initial panic and begin her exploration as she tried to unlock the secrets of the facility.  By now she had become very accustomed to the city, which she had spent more than a week at, having familiarised herself with the central residential area on the ground as well as the builds that could conly be accessable via flight, the massive ‘sea’ on one side of the city, mountain ranges on another and a huge restricted area on the otherside.

As Rei continued her investigation, she attempted to interface with the consoles in the massive floating city, focusing on those closest to the restricted area now.  She would begin by access the local network of the massive city, a task which she achieved with minimal effort.  Despite this however, she still realised that she seemed to only have restricted access now as she became aware of a secure part of the network, which much like this restricted area, seemed to be outside of her ability to breach without considerable effect.  Rei pouted slightly now as she began to reconfigure her Data Pad to the best of her ability, increasing its ability to interface with the unique technology of the Arc.  This was somewhat successful, but Rei found herself limit primarily by her lack of understanding of the Arc’s unique technology.  Rei would make a quick check to ensure that her Data pad retained its main functionality, a check that returned positive.  Once this was done she would attempt to reconfigure the Arc console now to more closely resemble the technology of her datapad, this however proved to be rather difficult.  Even though this was an ability that her form naturally possessed, she found that the Arc seemed to be ‘resisting’ her attempts.  This caused Rei to puzzle slightly as she increased her efforts only to sense the same reality rejecting build up that she had sensed at the lock, resulting in a mild discharge that disconnected her from the console.  Rei would shake her hand painfully as she used Litany to heal herself and repair the damage to her Data Pad, before she linked with the console once again.  This time she would simply download the a local map of the facility and any files which she could find on it.  She would quickly realise that she had access to a number of what she could only assume to be historical documents, but she simply found herself unable to decipher the language.  Rei would continue to download the data, noticing a number of recurring symbols within the later parts of these histories.  Like the symbol on the outside of the Arc, these symbols also seemed to be very closely related to what they actually looked like.  These symbols depicted coloured concentric circles, in a series that showed the outside circle being swallowed by the inner circle to give the final “world within a world” clue which was located on the outside of the facility.

Rei would log this, but be unable to do much with the information, suggesting that she would need to make it into the restricted area before she could really make any real progress.  Unfortunately, the restricted area was barred off by a large stone door, which resonated with energy in the shape of a number of the symbols which Rei had come across so far.  This area seemed to need the equivalent of a ‘combination code’ rather than the simple ‘scanning checks’ that had gotten Rei into the arc to begin with.  With a sigh, she would make her way back to the residential area and head southwest to explore the ‘sea’ within the are.  Unfortunately, to do this she would have to equip her Merrow Drive, and form reconfigurations tended to take quite a bit of time, meaning that this would bring an end to her activities for the day.

Outcome: Rei has made some passive observations over her time in the Arc.  She has noted that their are a few living organisms contained within the Arc, and while they seem to share a common ancestors with those creatures currently present in New Gaia, they are unlike anything she has seen before.  Their are strange fish in the southwest sea, and she heard sounds coming from the northern area that suggest the presence of bird life.  Also, she has noted that she can no longer sense Gaia’s magnetic field.
