Life is Hard:
Johnny, Brian and L’Qatu attempt Gae
Bulg Quest (01/09/09)
The Xelot and Mercenary groups decided
to land their ships a great distance away from the Haiman stronghold, Phyhasten
and make the rest of the journey on foot. Johnny and Jason’s Chaos Broken Combat
Suit Regulators would for the most part protect them against the radiation
whereas DE, the Tekera, would have no protection other than its metal frame.
They would do their best to move carefully and quietly with their forms at low
output but the only member of the group possessing any form of stealth was DE.
The Mercenary group on the other hand
would be better equipped stealth wise with Brian utilising his Combat Suit’s
stealth along with Blackout and Poltergeist on low outputs. L’Qatu would depend
on the Combat Suit’s stealth with his form at low output and Zeer and Kerad
would also utilise the stealth of their Combat Suits along with their own
passive stealth abilities. Unfortunately for the Mercenaries, Class 2 Regulators
would not be high enough to protect them from the radiation which had slowly
began to degrade their forms from the time they disembarked the ship.
Among the Xelots Johnny and DE would
be on primary scanning duty searching for a cave entrance or some other opening
that would lead to the underground ruins. For the Mercenaries this job would go
to Zeer and Kerad whose forms made them ideal sentries.
The recent influx of beings with souls
into the area had not gone unnoticed by the Haiman which prompted them to send
out patrols in the area to make sure their hated enemies were not up to
anything threatening. The Haiman had also noticed an increase in the amount of
creatures in the area as well.
After some time of searching the
Xelots picked up a Haiman patrol coming their way. Fortunately for the Xelots,
Johnny’s massive area of influence allowed his Code Crisis to pick them up
first. Given that he was looking to avoid combat he decided to head back the
way they came and wait for the patrol to pass. The Mercenaries would have an
easier time navigating the hostile area. They had managed to avoid being
detected by the Haiman patrols and the few mutated creatures which lurked in the
area. In fact it was one of these creatures that lead them to a large mound,
inside which was a tunnel. Zeer and Kerad detected traces of the presences of
other creatures which suggested that a number of creatures were in this
particular area fairly recently. They aslo advised Brian and L’Qatu that the
tunnel was likely dug by some sort of burrowing animal. Judging from the size of
the tunnel this creature had to be rather large.
As they were about to enter the tunnel
a nearby creature seemed to notice their presence but did not advance towards
them. The hideous animal was beyond recognition of anything the group was
familiar with and it seemed unsure of whether the Mercenaries were actually
there or not. Seeing this, the Delgrangers advised their companions to keep
still. The curious animal decided to move closer still seemingly unsure of its
senses. Unfortunately the group could not afford to linger like this due to the
radiation and would have to either move along or attempt to dispatch the
creature. Zeer and Kerad advised the former considering they were out in the
open and so they carefully made their way into the tunnel. At this point the
creature advanced further, set on entering the tunnel as well. The Mercenaries
would keep up their stealth routine as they made their way further underground.
By now the Xelots were making another
advance and this time they would pick up two creatures which looked like the
Reapers Juggerknot and Dark had told Johnny about after their battle in Haiman
territory some time ago. Johnny did not want to engage anyone or anything out
here unless it was necessary to retrieve the artefact but at this point he
realised that without stealth making it through this area without having to
engage in a battle was unlikely. Unfortunately a Haiman patrol had also detected
the creatures and expanded the range of their scanning to see what else may have
been in the area since Reapers fed on concentrated sources of ethereal energy.
They would immediately detect the Xelot squad and head towards them.
“Damn, we’re going to have to fight
our way through this place!” Johnny exclaimed in frustration as he powered up to
full, prompting Jason to do the same and DE to flee the area. Johnny activated
his Psychic Flames and Darken Flames and unleashed a massive blast of his
various destructive techniques on one of his attackers. The Haiman was blasted
away from the sheer force of the attack but would manage to shave off most of
the attack itself. Another Haiman appeared about 20 metres away from the two
Xelots, setting off their Infantry Scanners and auto activating their Shifter
Boots which transported them out of the way of the blast from their attacker.
They appeared some distance away and Johnny unleashed another concoction of doom
upon that Haiman which teleported away from the resulting destruction. A red
beam of energy would then impact Jason’s chest knocking the massive Morpher
back.
A torrent of red flames from above
would then pin Johhny to the ground, not only burning him but also slamming into
him with massive concussive force. Fortunately for both Xelots their Combat
Suit’s Deflection Armour would be of great protection, actually saving Jason
from instant reversion but leaving him with critical health. At this point
Johnny Omega Shielded the continuous torrent of flames and activated the
Personnel Teleporter, transporting him and Jason back to their ship.
Meanwhile the Mercenaries had made it
down to the city ruins and thankfully so, since the radiation had considerable
impact on their health. Fortunately they would be safe from the radiation
underground. The animal which had entered the tunnel behind them went its own
way after making it into the city. As the group looked around they could tell
that the city was very old and in very bad shape. There was a great deal of
rubble all around them and no lighting. They also picked up a number of energy
signatures within their sensory range which Zeer and Kerad revealed to belong to
a number of creatures in the area. The Delgrangers wanted to know the plan for
finding the artefact but quickly realised there was none and advised their
companions to come up with one before going any further.
