This Time is the Charm: Davius and Juggerknot ambush Roogers yet again (03-02-2403)
By now, the duo of Davius and the Juggerknot had gotten used to battling the physically monstrous entities that were the Roogers, and as such, they were certain that they had devised a plan that made them less likely to fall victim to the heavy hitting entities. Unfortunately for the two it seemed that the Roogers had also gotten used to their attacks. As Davius made his way out over the Terrain, he realised that the creatures no longer fed in the small patchy groups, but instead aggregated far more to find safety in numbers. In addition, smaller parties of jeuveniles seemed to always have an adult male guarding them, no doubt to avoid such groups falling prey to the whims of the two Terran channelers or others like them. This made it infinitely harder for Davius to select a group, but he would eventually find one which he considered to at least be approachable, giving the Juggerknot the signal to get things started.
This time the Juggerknot would be stopped in his tracks before he could even get off a serious attack, being intercepted by an adult male on his way towards his targets. The powerful melee attack caught both the Juggerknot, who was the recipient and Davius who had been keeping watch from the air as the creature seemed to materialise from nowhere as it delivered the strike which did enough to disrupt the Juggerknot’s defensive abilities. Davius could be sure that it was not a stealth strike, resolving that it had to be the result of simple unseen high speed motion. Regardless of the cause however, it did manage to stun the Juggerknot ever so slightly, causing his abilities to flicker just long enough for the creature to deliver a second strike to his sternum which sent all of the wind out of the massive channeler as the environment did it’s best to absorb the shockwaves rippling off his form.
Davius cursed now engaging his stealth over the battlefield, masking Juggerknot’s positions and creating illusions all over the place in an attempt to disorient and confuse the creatures present. This served to be very useful, allowing Juggerknot enough time to recover while his attack was confused, so that he could clear the area and finally commence his long range barrage of the creatures by hurling massive chunks of Gaia at them. His masked projectiles proved to be quite useful initially, especially on the very confused Jeuveniles present who simple took to hiding behind the adult male present, while the other Roogers attempted to rally themselves and fend off their two unseen attackers. Once again the air would be filled with dust as they kicked into the ground, attempting to locate their targets. Fortunately, Dark had planned for this, and quickly went to work masking the disturbances in the dust created by his form and that of his teammate with his illusions.
Unfortunately for the two, with so many Roogers now engaging in the active search process, Davius’ stealth would not be enough to shield them both from their detection. As was to be expected, Juggerknot would be the first to be detected, as Davius failed to shield his rocks, allowing the Roogers to follow the trajectory of his throws in an attempt to follow him. Needless to say, the Juggerknot would attempt to retreat, but his lack of speed would be to his detriment, and his would quickly find himself cornered by a mob of anger Roogers. This would leave Davius with only two viable choices, to continue his stealth or to utilise his energy to assist his associate. Davius cursed lightly as he powered up his Blood Red Impact now and focused the spatial disturbance around a single Rooger before it shattered, seriously damaging the creature’s form. This gave Juggerknot the leeway needed to focus his energy into a single strike on the damaged creature and revert it in a single blow. Unfortunately, reverting just one of the creatures would do little to stop him from being swarmed, forcing Davius to utilised a wider version of his Blood Red Impact, creating just enough of a distortion for the Juggerknot to clear the area with a jump.
By now, Davius was also suffering the ill effects of dividing his energy, realising that he could now be sensed by some of the creatures with higher awareness, causing him to fall victim to their projectile barrages. This would force him to re-engage his stealth as he repositioned himself, keeping an eye on Juggerknot who had no become the primary and most easily detected target. The battle would continue with Juggerknot hitting and moving as the hordes of Roogers whittled down his defense, whith Dark occasionally breaking full stealth to assist him only to be pelted with boulders. The two would eventually be forced to retreat from the area by the now enraged Roogers.
“Teh Darkness thinks we should call it quits Jugz...” Davius replied as the two decloaked some distance away. “These creatures are getting rather... emotion.”
The Juggerknot just dismissed his statement. “As long as dem got windows... we gine jump de fok through them.” He replied. “Das wha...”
The two would spend the rest of their time arguing this as they surveyed the damage done to their forms.
