Humility: Serai and Mavrick duel while their subordinates and Jinzo brawl (16/07/2403)
The simuatenaous brawl and duel was rather confusing for the colleseum to organise at first, but once the specifics were worked out, things were quickly on their way. Maverick and Serai would occupy one ring, while the Rogue and Mercenary subordinates brawled in another, making for two separate fights that ran simultaneously.
As the battle begun, Mavrick would initiate his Death Drive along with his defensive energies in anticipation for Serai’s attack, being very surprised when the young martial artist fell into a defensive stance and allowed Mavrick to make the first move. Mavrick smirked now as he displaced his energy signature now, shifting it to another location on the battlefield while he resonated himself temporally to create temporal clones. Serai would track all of this with his Crimson Eyes, which easily followed Mavrick’s moves, tracking him as he moved in for the attack. Mavrick would watch as his attack connected a mere instant before Serai vanished, allowing his opponent to take the attack but escape the follow up. Mavrick would watch as his opponent reappeared, displaying heavy damage. Mavrick found it odd that Serai was able to move so quickly in the presence of his Insolence, but would shrug it off as he moved in for the next strike. Once again he would land the hit, but Serai would escape, appearing some distance away with his form registering damage again. It appeared that Mavrick was simply too fast for him.
On the other side of the battlefield, Jada, Leon and Brad were setting up for their team attack, while Reign summoned his Purgatory Armour onto Jinzo, who was already fused with his True Visor. This left just Seraph and Dave to set up for the opening of the battle. Leon would begin the battle with scanning, while Jada took aim on Jinzo and Brad focussed on Seraph and Dave. Jinzo would be the first to make a move however, rushing towards Jada and forcing Leon to intercept him, mimicking his form in a futile attempt to match Reign’s abilities. Unfortunately, he would be able to match the boss level effects of the Purgatory Armour, allowing Jinzo to easily overpower him and gain the upper hand. While this was happening, Serph wasted no time sending her summon, Lionheart into the fray, while Brad attempted to take on the overpowered Exodus frame pack.
Back in the duel, Mavrick seemed to have taken the upperhand, scoring another two blows similar to what he had managed to do previously before Serai collapsed to his knees from the sheer damage. Mavrick smirked arrogantly as he approached his opponent, mocking the would-be Guardian who simply could not stand up to the might of the Ashura. Serai had to amid at this point that he was beat, and that the Ashura was indeed superior at this point, causing Mavrick to smile as he charged his finisher. Right then, Serai’s temporal manipulation would peak and he would vanish from that spot, exploding with energy as the Rogue Lance formed in his hand. Mavrick’s temporal abilities would go to work to counter Serai’s, but with him being caught totally offguard, this gave Serai just enough time to catch his side on the Rogue Lance as he evaded. Mavrick would instantly feel as his form’s capacity for combat was reduced, before Serai funnelled all of his energies into the Lance and exploded Mavrick off of the blade, stunning the Phalanx. This would allow Serai to follow up with an Overdriven Zogenachi Crusher, connecting with a powerful reverse punch before exploding a wave of energy afterwards. Maverick would take the punch, with no deflection to shave any of the damage, before the stunning effects of Serai’s energy wore off and allowed him to at least partially shield some of the wave that followed the attack. Between Khaaos, Soul Eater and Chuuki-Hensa, Mavrick’s form was barely functioning properly at this point, allowing him to avoid the lunge that followed. Mavrick would attempt to restart his Death Drive, but would find that a follow up explosion by Serai would nip this in the bud, causing his energies to quickly die down as Serai’s energies went to work.
In the other arena, Jinzo would find himself being oppressed greatly as he found himself triple teamed by Jada, Leon and the binding summon Lionheart, the only things keeping him alive being the extremely resistant Purgatory Armour and the unique reality reversing effects of his Demonic Zone which seemed to turn his opponents’ attacks back on them with great efficiency. On the other side of that arena, Seraph and Dave were making quick work of Brad however, who found himself unable to outmuscle Dave with the additional weight of the Exodus frame at his command, while Seraph did her best to reduce his channelling potential. Luckily for Brad, the Lionheart would soon be dispatched by the demonic Jinzo, stunning Seraph temporarily and allowing Brad to score with a gravity enhanced blow with Focal Point. This would be the only free hit that he got however, before Dave ripped into him with the M-Blaster mounted on the Exodus, turning the brute’s attention back to the massive frame and off of Seraph.
Back with Serai and Mavrick, the battle had evened up somewhat as Mavrick entered his Celestial Form, allowing the Ashura to take control of him and do battle with Serai in his stead. This provided Mavrick with a massive boost to all of his stats due to the Gigas Energy type of the Ashura, but Serai would quickly activate Turbine and his Overdrive to even the odds, while he focused Khaaos and his Viral energy types on reducing the Ashura’s defensive abilities and assault power. The battle would quickly move into a rather evenly matched melee battle as the two channelers duked it out, with the Ashura landing a number of clean hits on Serai, who reacted in kind. During this time, the Ashura had the clear power advantage, but could not hope to match Serai’s speed, making for an even battle before Serai’s Soul Rush kicked in, tipping the scales in his favour. Even as with Mavrick’s manifested faith, the Ashura’s limited manifestation in this would could not keep up with the blistering, energy enhanced strikes of the Death Dragon. Serai would start to score hit after hit with the Rogue Lance, each time reducing Mavrick’s ability to combat him, with Mavrick only scoring the occasional blow between Serai’s barrages.
Back witih the subordinates, Brad would be the first to be forced out of the battle as Dave’s Exodus frame finished him off. His ejection from the match would be quickly followed by Leon’s as Jinzo quickly overpowered the imposter, leaving just Jada from Serai’s team. Noting this, Jada would retreat to range, realising now that she had become the primary target of Mavrick’s team as well. Jinzo would be having little of this as he rushed in to engage Dave Tergi, evening the odds somewhat as Jada and Seraph now dealt with each other.
On the other side of the battlefield, things would be wrapping up as Mavrick reverted to his regular form, unable to maintain his Celestial form. With Mavrick unable to do much else, Serai would detonate the area with his Violent Force to end the match up, reverting Mavrick.
In the other arena, things would be wrapping up as well. Jinzo would be finishing up with Dave, who had fallen prey to his Demonic Zone and persuasive abilities while Seraph finished off the already weakened Jada. The resulting battle between her and Jinzo would not last long before Jinzo would declared the victor.
