Misconceptions: Brian, Zeer and Kerad hunt Golemns (25/07/2403)
It was quite a task to find a Golemn in Swartzvald of all places, but with persistence and a great deal of scouring in his F-25, Brian would finally manage to locate one of the creatures. Having located the entity, he and his team would disembark their ship and lay the trap. Zeer and Kerad would set up some distance away, utilising their newly designed mercenary combat suits and custom expansions as they maintained stealth and lay in wait, while Brian went up to the entity and attempted to engage it.
The young Gestalt’s goal would be to interface within and if possible, to high-jack the entity. Unfortunately for Brian, unlike Thanatos, the inspiration for his action no doubt, who was a War Golem created by the Titan Clan, these naturally occurring Golemns were not machines which could be reprogrammed. They were simply semi-sentient energetic imbalances which fed on Astral energy to balance themselves out.
This fact would prove to be to Brian’s detriment as he began to interface with the creature, using his Uplink skill now. This link however would only provide an easier pathway by which the creature could begin sapping his Astral energy, instantly reducing Brian’s channelling capacity. This would force Brian to quickly sever the link, but it would be too late as the creature had already gotten a taste for him. Brian would do his best to retreat, tossing out a few of his Ethereal Chaff Grenades to cover his escape while the creature went after him. Brian would focus his energy on Angle now as he boosted his agility and rushed to Zeer and Kerad’s location.
His trap would work well as the creature rushed into the trap that the delgrangers had laid. Flaming breath attacks, now augmented with the stunning ability of Plasma Expansions would impact the super sturdy golemn to produce the mildest of stunning effects before Brian turned, charged and released a wave of energy from his Angle, knocking the Golemn back slightly. Zeer and Kerad would now try to go for the Golemn’s legs, but a quick kick would send Kerad flying away as Zeer now physically assaulted the entity. Brian would rush in now, emitting a UV blast in an attempt t o once again stun his opponent. This would only be mildly effective however, allowing the creature to launch a punch in return. However, with his superior combat skills, Brian would easily dodge the attack in mid air to connect with a spinning back-kick. The attack would deliver just enough force to tip the Golemn, while Zeer provided a powerful enough ‘yank’ to take it off of one of its feet. This would bring the massive structure tumbling to the ground, while Kerad flanked it and beat down on it with his flaming breath as well. With Angle and his CAFEM, Brian would manage to actually crack the outer shell of the Golemn, but this would only cause the creature to emit a powerful Astral Draining wave. Zeer and Kerad would instantly retreat, while Brian hopped onto the chest of his assailant and pressed off, jumping high into the air and away from the creature while driving it further into the ground.
As Brian landed, he would watch as the creature vanished, clearly having built up enough Astral energy to perform this ‘channeling action’, appearing behind Brian to trap him in a bear hug as it continued to drain his energy. With his channelling abilities dwindling quickly, Brian could not hope to overpower the creature, but his super combat abilities would quickly devise a counter. Once again, he would charge his energy and emit a powerful UV blast, stunning his opponent briefly while Zeer and Kerad moved in, through the Astral draining field to deliver powerful blasts to his opponent. Brian would take this time now to charge Angle, and break his stunned opponent’s grasp, quickly falling to the ground and rolling before turning to release a blast from his UV to knock it over again. Once again, the three would stealth and retreat from the Astral draining zone.
This battle was proving to be rather tedious, but the Mercenary combat suits seemed to be working rather well for both Brian and his Delgranger companions. Seeing this, they would move in for the finisher. Surrounding the Golemn, they would all activate their Omega Drives and move in for a final Strike. Unfortunately for Brian, the creature had built up just enough channelling force for another teleport, moving to intercept him with a powerful shoulder check that stopped him in his tracks, literally folding the Mercenary Operative around the massive creature’s body. Zeer and Kerad would both Omega Blitz the creature with Plasma enhanced Flame breath attacks to pin it to the ground, while Brian recovered. By now, the Astral draining field was too high for the team to do much more. Zeer and Kerad would grab a still recovering Brian and retreat in stealth, before he regain his senses and Omega Flashed them all to the ship. Brian would then leave the area quickly, calling his hunting run a marginal success.
Outcome: The equipment which Zeer and Kerad acquired from the Mercenary Research and Developement facility is working perfectly.
Brian: 290 Exp (-950HP)
