Impromptu Duelling: Serai spars with Roun (11/08/2403)
Serai would find Roun in the training room of the Garrison, getting in some sparring practice with his newest subordinate Aeriul. The two channelers would be squaring off in a low powered state, running through their paces to get a feel for each other’s fighting style before Serai interrupted them.
“You look like you need a real opponent Roun!” He stated now, powering up his form to full and drawing a raised eyebrow from his teammate. Roun would pause slightly to see whether or not he was serious, before he would allow Aeriul to be on her way and oblige his teammate in the match up.
The rules would be simple, no coded techniques would be used outside of those used to boost the channelers’ forms, and the battle would be in the form of a martial arts contest so no blasting would be allowed. With these worked out, the two would power up their forms to max and allow their boosting techniques to go to work before Roun started off the attack. As Roun vanished, Serai’s Crimson Eyes would go to work tracking his location, while his Mind Control moves his body out of the way of the attack. This allowed him to dodge Roun’s initial straight punch, but the back fist that followed would catch Serai, rocking him backwards before Roun followed up with a lunge punch. Serai would rock back from the back-fist before grounding himself and deflecting the lunge punch, creating an opening before he launched a powerful palm strike at Roun. The attack would hit nothing but air as Roun vanished, forcing Serai’s crimson eyes and Mind Control to attempt to locate him again. Before he could react this time, a side kick would connect with his back, launching him away as Roun not took on a defensive stance. Serai would smirk now as he hit the ground and dive rolled to dissipate some of his momentum, before he moved back in, closing the distance between himself and his opponent quickly. Roun would hold his ground as he awaited the incoming attack. Serai would slide to a stop to deliver yet another palm strike, one which Roun easily countered before launching a high round house as Serai’s neck. Being the more skilled of the two, Serai would quickly overdrive his strength and deflection, allowing himself to take the blow to his neck and spin with the angular momentum to deliver a spinning hook kick to his opponent’s temple. Roun would be sent flying in his low weight state, while Serai rotated on the spot to land in a crouched position.
Serai would waste to time with the follow up, dashing towards the launched Roun to engage his Dragon Force, catching Roun in the air before attempting to press him into the ground. His attempt would be successful, but Roun would manage to dissipate most of the kinetic energy and avoid being stunned, quickly grapplying his opponent’s arm and putting him into an arm lock before he activated his Chaos Drive, boosting his strength and breaking Serai’s arm. The pain was enough to end the first round, forcing Serai to retreat as he summoned Jada to heal both him and Roun, before they prepared for the next round.
It would only take a few moments to heal their relatively minor damages before the next round would start, Roun would attempt to start with a rush again, but Serai would beat him to the punch with his temporally augmented movement. This actually caught Roun slightly offguard now as he tried to slide to a stop to prepare to take the defensive, but this was a bad call on the Itami’s part. His indecision would allow Serai to score the first hit, faking a high hook punch before actually delivering a low sweep, knocking Roun off of his feet before catching him in the air with an axe kick and sending him into the ground. Roun could cough lightly as he impacted the ground, before Serai followed up with a full front flip that preceded yet another powerful axe kick. Roun would barely be able to move to the side before Serai’s foot impacted the ground next to him, sending off a shockwave that he could feel as he pressed off the ground, throwing himself into mid air before he launched a spinning round house. Serai would duck under the attack to get close to Roun as he landed. Roun would see this and perform a spinning back kick as he moved away, but Serai would once again boost his defense and move in, taking the attack before delivering knee to Roun’s sternum. This caused him to off balance, allowing Serai to follow up with an elbow to the head. This hit from the opposite direction corrected Roun’s momentum before a headbutt sent him stumbling backwards. Roun would do a quick backpedal to catch himself, allowing Serai to rush in while he charged his Rebound Driver. Serai would not be able to react in time to avoid the quick dashing punch to the face, before Roun opened up with a barrage of attacks. Roun would catch his hand and pull him back to cancel the launch before catching him on an uppercut with his original punching arm. An overhead punch with the same arm would leave him hunching over, before the young Itami exploded off the ground with a jumping knee that sent Serai flying. This time it would be his turn to follow up. Roun could Burst to Serai location instantly, before a forward somersault ended in an axe-kick to send Serai hurling into the ground. The impact would stun Serai, but Roun would not push his luck with the follow up, instead landing some distance away an assuming a neural ‘ready’ stance.
This would leave the next exchange to Serai. Realising that matching Roun’s speed was pointless, he now resorted to relying on his superior skill to win exchanges. Serai would move towards his opponent slowly, getting within strike in range before launching a flurry of bizarre drunken strikes. Roun’s speed would be enough to keep up with the rate at which the attacks came, but with lower accuracy that Serai, he found it difficult to guard or deflect every strike, allowing a few solid hits through. Roun would be forced to close his stance and just guard as he watched Serai carefully, actually taking the final hit before he once again caught Serai’s arm in a lock. This time he would deflect a punch and catch the arm under his own, before stepping past Serai and flooring him with a palm thrust. Serai would quickly lock Roun with a body scissors and begin to crush Roun, but a combination of his Rebound Driver and Chaos Driver would allow Roun to lean in and deliver a double fist strike to Serai’s chest to break the lock, bringing the second round to a finish.
The final round would be the most aggressive, with Serai instantly powering into his Soul Rush, forcing Roun to activate his Infinity Aura and Imperial Break at their maximum. They would both rush in now and begin a flurry of attacks, with their first attacks connecting with each other almost simultaneously. Roun would connect with a roundhouse to the side of Serai, while Serai scored a powerful chop to his neck. This would cause them both to be stunned for a fraction of a second, but with their effective resilience being totally equal, they would both recover and launch their next attack. Serai’s knee would connect violently with Roun’s knee, pushing them back before Roun launched a spinning hook kick and Serai launched a spinning sweep to catch Roun. With his highly boosted speed he would complete the attack, make it back to a staning position and launch a hook kick that sent Roun flying into a wall. The Itami would impact the wall before a Zogenachi Crusher impacted him, drilling him further into a wall with a punch before the follow up energy waves added to the damage. It not take long for the energy that pinned the Itami to squeeze him out of that predicament and send him flying into another wall to compound the heavily damaging attack. Serai would not waste the chance and followed up again, but Roun would be having none of it. A quick deflection of his rushing attack would allow Roun to direct Serai into the wall, spinning 180 degrees to deliver a flurry of machine gun kicks to Serai’s back, working his way from the back of Serai’s knees up to the back of his head and then back down. Roun would finish the combo with a powerful side thrust kick, but he would only hit the wall of the training room as Serai Burst away, appearing behind him. Roun would spin to take a palm strike to the stomach before dodging an upward palm thrust aimed at his face, to score an uppercut to Serai’s gut. The second uppercut launched at Serai’s face would also hit just air as Serai fell onto his back, kicking back up with a double press. Roun would smirk now as he caught Serai’s feet and spun in back into the wall, before a round house was launched at his back. Another Burst would save Serai would the powerful follow up, and open up Roun for a short range Dragon Force. Once again Roun would be pressed into the wall, this time face first before energy exploded from Serai to end the final round in his favour.
Once again, Jada would heal the two before they headed off to the cafeteria, having both enjoyed the match thoroughly.
