Evolution

The souls existing on this world, Gaia, possessed a single uniquely powerful gift, becoming souls so refined through evolution that they were seen as the pinnacle of life with regards to this planet. This pleased Gaia, ceasing its spiritual evolution and facilitating the physical evolution of their hosts. The organisms created on Gaia were little more than vessels, bodies with which these advanced souls were sustained, so insignificant in the grand scheme of things yet so necessary to the survival of the ethereal entities.

It was never understood why in all the universe, all creation seemed to be geared towards creating and developing more powerful souls, from the great over soul of the ether stream, to the life force of the planet, then finally the powerful souls of the planet’s channelers, it was simply a fact that seemed to be accepted. Given this fact however, it was no surprise that the halted spiritual evolution that occurred on Gaia was ignored by a few select souls. At first, these souls were weeded out, ether being contained or completely destroyed, depending on the threat that they posed to the civilization, but finally, the innate will for spiritual growth won out, allowing two of the most powerful souls to be born into the corporeal world.  Unlike ordinary souls, these entities did not need to be bonded with a material shell to sustain their energy in this world, and in fact, were so powerful that they emanated energy by merely existing. These were the first two true channelers on Gaia, known throughout all history by the names of Heirach and Teros.

Heiarch, the patron father of the original race which called itself ‘humanity’, was a powerful being and was chronologically the first soul to ever manifest its channelling potential in the ethereal realm.  Originally, his ability to create extended only to the Material spectrum, the realm in which Gaian were designed to excel.  However, with external influences, his powers grew, bringing with them the ability to create pure ether or any of its components when he reached the peak of his power. His powers were limitless, and so was his ambition, after years of neutrality, he would eventually aspire to be the sovereign ruler of all things in existence on the small planet.

Teros, first manifested his abilities as a powerful psychic, becoming a savant in his own right… a misunderstood genius, causing his true power to be initially misunderstood.  After the external influence, his ability to shape reality was thought to be due to the power of creation, much like his predecessor Heirach, but only later was it discovered that his powerful summoning techniques were due to his ability to destroy ether and its components, almost like creating a masterful sculpture from an unshaped piece of marble.

Their rise to power would be a unique one, as would be their fall from grace.
