Lending Some Asistance

It had been weeks since Xavier Stryke could power up and maintain his channelling form for more than just a few seconds.  Since his encounter with the Itamis, and the awakening of the strange energy within him, he could feel another presence inside of him, a secondary entity that seem to be vying for control of his body… or at least that was how it felt.  Xavier sat now in a narrow alley, looking around at the buildings around him as he slowly began to feel the frailty of his body in his unpowered up state.

His stomach ground now, causing him to grunt audibly as he cursed his user form.  Xavier looked down at himself in this moment of self-awareness, the first time in days that his mind focussed on something other than his inability to channel.  The light ether flow through his body had managed to sustain his body somewhat, but he could feel his physical form weakening.  His cloths, though intact thanks to their durability were, for the first time, not pristine, soiled by the streets in which he had spent the last few days.  Xavier frustrations built at this point.  These were not things that a channeler should have to worry about, could he power up his energies would take care of these trivialities.; sustenance, sanitation… folly, he thought as his rage began to build.  His contempt for his humanity and his weakness began to flow forth in a wash of ethereal energy, streaming through his body and sending him shooting into his player form, his energy fully charged as he attempted to tame the beast that was lurking within him.

Much like before, amidst the unformatted ether that made up his form, flowed a deep red energy attempting to synchronise itself with his own energies, an action that Xavier fought with all that he had.  The more he fought however, the stronger this energy became, until it started to overrun his form.

The authorities noted the energy as it began to build, at first registering as a ignorable energy spike before it reached class D threat status.  The threat status began to build, moving from Class D to A in only a matter of seconds, forcing a containment unit to be dispatched to the scene to avoid any catastrophes, events which Mr. Stryke were well known form.

“Alerting all free units, proceed to the deployment bay at once.  I repeat, all available units, report to the deployment bay at once.”

As the sirens blared through the facility, the pilots stationed on the base made their way towards the hangar, quickly equipping their armours before they were loaded onto the teleportation bays and warped to the area, setting up a neutrality perimeter around the young channeler, who seemed to be going critical.

As the materialised at the drop point, the pilots quickly shook off the residual disorientation from the teleporters, turning their attention to the field commander as he issued orders via hand signals.  With simple movements of his hands and fingers, he quickly dispatched 7 units, who took up their stations and powered up their cannons, awaiting the final go ahead to neutralise the boy.

“Hold tight and await my command, let’s give the boy some time to defuse the situation on his own.”  The Commander now stated over the communications network before receiving affirmative replies from his squads.

“I’ve got incoming commander, 2 perfect level signatures are moving towards the area… velocity roughly, one kilometre a second.”  The scout informed the group, causing the commander of the unit to grumble.

“What the hell is going on here…?”  His voice came over the comm. link, causing his unit to feel slightly uneasy, as they all now trained their targeters on Xavier.  “This is unit 079-Bravo, deployed in response to the Class A threat in sector RES-003.  We’ve set up a perimeter and the threat is contained, however, we have two metas heading towards our location, e.t.a. thirty-two seconds.  We require Enforcer back-up.  Potential escalated threat level: Double S.”  His transmission had a negligible delay before reaching the command centre, but he knew that they would need to hold their own for at least ten seconds if the two Perfect level channelers were to become a threat, before the Enforcers got there.

“Shit…”  He cursed under his breath, trying to calm himself before addressing his team.  “Okay men, we have incoming, two boogies.  The threat level has been bumped up to a Double Class S, and the Enforcers are on their way.  Scott, Perez and Gian; I want you to keep your sights on the initial target.  If his status worsens, neutralise him.  The rest of you, set your visors to Channel 901, and follow those two targets… as for you rookies: you’re suits prevent telefragging, and you’re armours can sustain up to a class 8 attack, so don’t get too jittery, but if they attempt to engage, lock your sights on the highest ether concentration in their forms and fire at will.”  He commanded, belting out the orders without further hesitation.  “T-minus-6 seconds, you got all that.”

“Roger that.”  Came the reply unanimously from the unit.

For that unit, six seconds seemed like a lifetime.  Time slowed for them as the exo-suits they wore boosted their awareness and reaction times, allowing them to actual go one on one with the Perfect level channelers if need be.  As the two channelers came within 2 kilometres of the group, the first visual confirmation was made, acknowledged silently as it would have been impossible to relay their descriptions in the 2 seconds before their arrival.  Never the less, the commander noted this.  The first and faster of the two was a green haired man, with a thick muscular physique.  His dark clothing seemed local causing the commander to assume that he was from earth, or at least had spent some time there.  His features seemed rather boyish, so it was unlikely that it accurately reflected his age, given the level of his power.  As he thrusted towards them, the commander noted the next man.  His features also seemed rather boyish, however, unlike the first man who sported a short goatee and some faint moustache, he had no facial hair at all, and is pale blue hair was pulled back into a ponytail.  His clothing seemed far more eccentric, probably of Oyan origin the commander noted before the two blew past his team towards the boy.

As the reached his location, their flight paths arched upwards, and then they stopped, allowing the stream of air following them to rush into the air harmlessly before they turned their attentions to young Stryke.  Xavier had been managing the situation somewhat poorly, but this time he had managed to be powered up for almost 6 minutes, an achievement considering his attempts the past weak.  Shin and his accomplice turned their attentions to the young man now, watching as he struggled with the entity, causing a puzzled look on the face of the man with the white hair.

“Why does he struggle so feverously with this energy?”  He inquired, looking at Shin.

“This place is different from our home; these children are not taught what we simply know.”  Shin explained, looking at the boy and summoning his own energy.

“Hold!”  Came the order from the commander of the containment unit as his subordinates all prepared to fire.

“Guardian on Chaos…” Shin started, causing his eyes to glow as energy swirled around them, before he green energy spread out and interacted with the red energy flowing around Xavier.

“Relax boy… why do you fight this thing so hard?  It won’t hurt you, just accept your destiny.”  Luckily for them both, Xavier’s mind was barely conscious of the outside world, as he was using every ounce of mental strength that he had to maintain his form and keep the odd entity from synchronising with him.  Had he been conscious of them however, his retorts to their words of suggestion would not have been particularly kind.

“The Guardian spirit cannot complete the synchronisation; the boys will is too strong.  If the process isn’t completed today, he will chose a new host.”  Shin explained.

“Perhaps he should, this untrained fool isn’t worthy of possessing a power such as this.”  The man retorted with a scoff.

“Cornus!”  Shin exclaimed, drawing a sigh from his accomplice.

“Very well… I will aid him.”  With this, Cornus powered up, sending an astral projection from his form and into Xavier.

“Shouldn’t we do something Commander?”  Perez, one of the members of the containment unit inquired now.

“We are here to contain a threat, since these two arrived, the boy has fallen from a Class A back to a Class C threat… we will not provoke them.  If they escalate the threat level or become hostile, we will neutralise them… otherwise, we will not act.  Is that clear?”  The commander replied.

“Roger.” Perez replied reluctantly.

Shin’s eyebrow twitched slightly as he sensed the energy from Enforcers teleporting into the area, but he didn’t make much of a move, continuing to communicate with the guardian energy, simply remarking to himself that their response to the situation was somewhat slower than usual.

Inside Xavier’s mind, Cornus attempted to offer some assistance, while Shin aided with the situation from the outside, dealing with the energetic aspect of the synchronisation.  Within seconds, the energies subsided and Xavier returned to his regular powered up state, while Shin and Cornus both removed their influence and step back.

“You have a long road ahead of you; you should accept guidance where it is given.”  Cornus advised the young man, who simply scoffed, quite exhausted from the entire ordeal.

“Our work here is done, we should be off… I think our presence here makes the authorities uneasy.”  Shin explained, blasting into the air and taking off in the same direction from which the came.  Cornus nodded and followed suite, leaving the area as well.

“The two perfects are leaving the area… threat level reduced to null… good job everybody.”  Came the transmission from the command centre.   “Return to base immediately.”

With this, the containment team vanished, leaving just the few Enforcers at the scene.  They however would want to question Stryke, causing them to take him with them as they vanished from the area.
