A Point In The Right Direction
“What the hell was that!? Did anyone else notice those energy readings just now?” A young controller inquired rather frantically as he looked around the surveillance room of one of the many UN run centres to deal with channeler activities.
Inside the room were a number of work stations, and at each station, a highly trained controller operated their own personal surveillance satellite with which they kept an eye on the world’s channelers.
“What are you talking about Justin?” The young lady across the hall from him now inquired, turning her satellite so its scanners could synchronise with his.
Unfortunately, she would be too late, as by the time she managed to adjust her feed to the relevant satellite, Shin and Cornus had already, and quite successfully, made short work of the disturbance.
“I don’t see anything…” She stated now, looking over to her workmate somewhat puzzled, leaving the young controller to question exactly what he, and only he, had just seen.
“I guess it could have been a glitch in the system…” He reasoned. “…or a temporary problem with the satellite, but I swear, I just got some of the strangest readings that I have even gotten in my 3 years at this place.” He explained, skimming back through the records and printing the readouts that corresponded with the time at which he observed the anomaly. As he handed the information to his partner, her eyes widening, before slowly squinting as her mind attempted to make sense of it all… a task at which it failed.
“It was probably a problem with the satellite’s sensor systems… probably interference from cosmic waves or something… I don’t know.” She attempted to reason, though rather unsuccessfully. “All I know is that nothing on this planet could have produced those readouts…” The young lady suggested.
“Well I don’t know Nina… but I’ve seen system glitches… I’ve felt system glitches before… this wasn’t one of those. These readouts have got to be legit… even though they don’t seem possible.” Justin pushed.
“So what do you want to do with them?” Nina inquired.
“I’m going to take them to the Director… get his opinion… he should be able to at least point me in the right direction.” The young man finished before leaving the room.
