Going The Distance
Back on the remote island on which the disturbance had taken place, the two perfect level channelers where separating the two young teams that seemed to be causing them so many problems.
Cornus opted to transport Rock, Blitz and Shade, the three mercenary channelers that had adopted the team name S.A.B.E.R. under Cy’s suggestion, as well as Cy, Jais and John back to the large Kurudo that functioned as their base of operation. As he moved towards the Kurudo, it’s automatic defence systems shot to life, immediately taking aim at him, forcing the channeler to take a few steps back before he decided the best way to tackle the vehicle. In recent days, the manufacturers of the vehicles had begun to take the power of perfect level channelers into account when creating their assault vehicles; and though it was still difficult for a light assault or even a medium assault vehicle to revert a Perfect, they could still prove to be quite a nuisance, to even the most powerful of perfects. Cornus sighed lightly, using his kinesis to move Shade towards the vehicle. He noticed that the automated defences didn’t activate as his did this, giving him an idea. Cornus quickly powered up his Glitz Mirage, moving into the range of the Kurudo’s scanners before performing a temporal freeze and focussing his energy on a single spot in the ship’s barrier. Disabling the barrier took more time than one would expect, but once done, there was only a fraction of a second before Cornus and those who he was transporting were inside of the vehicle. With the others unconscious, this left only Ms. Real to notice his arrival, causing her to raise an eyebrow.
“Well… you’re and unlikely rescuer, I don’t believe I even know your name.” She started, drawing a long sigh from Cornus.
“You rescue is none of my concern… whatever game that you and France are playing with the lives of these children, you will answer for them soon enough. The gods have a way of bringing retribution of those with a mastery of deceit.” Cornus replied with scorn, causing Amanda to laugh lightly.
“You are too cute to be so uptight. If you don’t want to rescue me, well that’s fine, but don’t pretend to know what is going on here. The trials of these so called ‘children’, will benefit us all… and your gods have little power here.” He replied, quite smugly, causing Cornus to scoff and vanish from the ship.
Meanwhile, Shin was having a far less confrontational encounter. As Roun came through, he saw his twin brother sitting up, rubbing the back of his head lightly and looking up towards the door. Strange, Roun thought to himself, following his brother’s gaze, only to see the object of his attention. The full commanding frame of his father instantly drew his attention as he fully gained consciousness at this point, his ethereal sense returning to him along with his full awareness and cognisance. As his senses rushed back, so did his memories, causing Roun to look up at his father with a slightly confused look on his face. But his father would say nothing, simply shaking his head.
Within seconds, Shin would complete the summoning of the small device with which he simply made his way up to Roun and placed it into a vacant slot in his Hard Point System.
“At this moment, you are a danger to yourself and more importantly, to others. In your current state Roun… the powers that have awakened in you could destroy you... and without you, others could destroy so much more. I have equipped you with an ethereal suppressor system. It should retard your energy somewhat, to prevent you from uncapping yourself too far. Do not remove this device unless it is absolutely necessary.” He stated rather cryptically before turning his attention to Ryuu as well. “This entire incident never occurred, speak of it to no one… I will see to it that the others are silenced as well. You two have started down a very… challenging path… I assume that you are prepared to go the distance.” Roun and Ryuu just nodded affirmatively, as they had been trained from children to do, not fully understanding the terms of their affirmation, but knowing full well that compliance was not the only, but simply the best option afforded to them at the moment. “I will continue to look over you two, though my interference may not always be to your advantage, as in this incident.” Shin continued, causing Roun’s and Ryuu’s eyebrows to quirk as they wondered exactly how this was to their advantage. “After this incident with S.A.B.E.R. and Ms. Real is cleaned up, I want you two to return home and await further instructions…” Once again they nodded, and with this, Shin vanished, leaving the twins to put it all together.
