New Leaves on Family Trees

Back at his facility on the outskirts of Novosibirsk, Shin Itami poured over the information that Kyasho Mirakama had the courtesy of sending him.  Since Roun’s separation from the Archetype, the young Itami had been all but excluded from his father’s grand schemes, now being considered to be too weakened by the process of the separation to be of any further use.  This was in fact one of the main reasons why he and Cornus had opposed Roun’s separation from the entity in the first place.  Shin smirked now, realising that was this information correct, he would seriously need to rethink his stance on Roun’s situation.

“What’s that you have their Max?”  Cornus inquired, causing Shin to shake his head.

“Nothing of importance…”  Shin replied, causing Cornus to raise an eyebrow.

“You know… it’s quite unnerving when you shield even your surface thoughts from me, Maximillian.” Cornus now replied, drawing a smirk from Shin.

“We both know that some things are best kept to one’s self.”  Shin laughed, drawing similar laughter from Cornus.

“Well, on an unrelated note, I seem to have located your nephew.” Cornus now sounded, as Setto and his Malaikin companion Ran made their way into the room.

“I didn’t know that I was lost, Uncle Max.”  Setto sounded as he made his way towards the balcony where the two men were, his voice baring his usual chipper tone.

“Not you Setto, your brother.”  Cornus replied, drawing raised eyebrows from Setto, Ran and even Shin as the three thought about the statement.

“Kai had another son?”  Shin inquired now.

“Yes, many years ago before Setto was born, but the boy abandoned his designated role of heir to the Itami throne and left Itam.  Little was known of his whereabouts after the fact, but my investigations into an odd energy signature detected off the coast the coast of Dubai seems to have located him.”

“You found him based only on his energy signature?” Ran inquired now, amazed at Cornus’ ability to locate an Itami other than his designated associate over such a vast distance.

“No, the energy which I detected was not that of young Kairi.”  Cornus paused.  “It was that of my daughter, Lya… Kairi’s companion.”  Cornus continued, causing the group to nod slowly.

“This is indeed an interesting turn of events.”  Shin stated now, turning his gaze to Setto and Ran.  “Setto, I think it’s time for a bit of a family reunion… find Ryuu and investigate the situation.  Do not make contact with your brother however, until we can be sure of the situation.”  Shin commanded, causing Setto to nod.

“One problem though, we’re going to need transportation and a chauffeur…”  Ran pointed out, as neither of the young Oyans had experience with piloting Terran vehicles.  Shin paused briefly.

“Very well, I will contact Ryuu myself… he will need a new ship if he is to transport you but that is inconsequential… you two will wait here until he arrives to pick you up, you will then proceed as a group to Kairi’s location and carry out your surveillance.

The two nodded as Shin left the room, moving off to locate his Communications Pad, leaving Cornus to brief Setto and Ran of the other specifics regarding the situation.
