Family Matters

As Cornus and Naomi appeared at Shin Itami’s installation in Novosibirsk, Naomi made her way over to Shin’s room, pulling out her Communication’s Link to contact her sons and tell them of her vision.  Cornus on the other hand, made his way over to Shin, inquiring as to how things were unfolding in Dubai.

“So, how goes it?”  Cornus inquired, drawing a raised eyebrow from Shin.

“Kairi and his party are on the move it would seem, Roun and Ryuu are yet to engage them.”  Shin explained.

“Interesting, it would seem that they can sense their intentions.”  Cornus added.

“That’s my assumption... one of the three must possess so kind of intuitive ability.”  Shin reasoned.  “I would assume that its Lya.”  He added.

“An astute observation, it is a technique more suited for our clan.”  Cornus replied smugly.  “Have you informed your sons of their movement?”

“I didn’t have to, their ships have been tracking the movement of their targets, they’re following as we speak.”  Shin explained.

“So what cautiously don’t you think?” Cornus inquired.  “What ever happened to the trigger happy Terran mentality?”  Cornus inquired now.

“I didn’t raise Terrans... I raised Itamis”  Shin retorted with a certain level of venom.

“Heh, well that is one accomplishment.” Cornus pushed before a communications request interrupted their verbal joust.

“Yes?”  Shin inquired abruptly as he opened the link.

“Hey dad, just talked to mom... what’s going on?” Roun inquired casually, still in pursuit of their targets.

“I believe what your mother told you is correct, but your task still remains... the fusion will be complete in three days, but the process has already started, I want you and your brother to wrap this up quickly.  Engage Kairi and his party now and bring them all back here before Dubai becomes unstable.  Do you understand?”

“You got it.”  Roun replied, disconnecting the link and turning back to the others aboard his Maglyte.  “Okay guys, dad just bumped up our schedule.  Nicola, you’re in charge of the ship, this is an Itami issue so I don’t want you getting involved...”  Roun started before Ryuu took over.

“Okay Roun, Kairi’s the beast so that’s my department... the black haired dude is a while card so have fun.  Ran and Setto, you take out the chick, she has the lower combat rating judging by my observations.”  Ryuu order, drawing a smirk from Roun.  “Okay kiddies... let’s do this.”

With this, the four left the Maglyte and blasted their way towards the party of three.

“They’re here.”  Lya announced, long before Ryuu and his team were in range.

“Good, it’s time that we meet our pursuers.”  Kairi replied with a smirk while his accomplice, Takeshu scoffed loudly at the fact that they had to engage what he assumed to be Terran pursuers.

Roun would be the first to land, followed by Setto, then Ran and finally Ryuu.  “We need to talk.”  Ryuu sounded as he touched down, powering up his form to max and causing the rest of his team to do the same.  “We don’t have time to get into the details, so make it easy and come with us.”  He stated, causing Kairi to laugh.

“Those pathetic outputs and you’re ordering me around?”  He inquired.  “Clearly your jesting?” He replied, pointing at the four.  Roun growled now, summoning his Veranos flame.

“Look, you know who we are, we’re all the same clan, so just come along quietly and don’t make a fuss.”  He replied, watching as Kairi too summoned Veranos into his palms.

“Clan?”  He laughed, looking around.  “You see her?”  He pointed at Lya.  “This is my clan right here... leave this place, we want to business with you.”

“Can we just skip to the combat revert them and take them in?  If what you mother said was right... I really don’t think we have time to reason with this buffoon.”  Ran interjected, summoning his massive guardian Zenex behind him.

“The kid is right...”  Kairi started, now powering up his form to max and engaging Web Symphony, his special ability.

“Kairi, this is not the time or place!”  Takeshu shouted now, watching as Kairi’s energy incremented, forcing Roun and Ryuu to start charging as well if they had any intention of starting this match up on even terms.  “They are not worthy of this display!”

“These are no Terrans, these are Itamis... if not them, then who?”  Kairi replied casually as his energy expanded, creating an invisible web in the ether around them.

Meanwhile, back in Novosibirsk, Naomi approached her husband and Cornus out on the balcony.

“You didn’t recall them, despite my suggestions Max?”  She inquired, quite annoyed with her husband right now.

“It would seem that you two need... a moment... I will be travelling to Romania to check on our fallen Monolith.”  Cornus stated, not wasting any time before vanishing from his location and leaving Naomi and Shin alone.

“Our sons are not children anymore Naomi, we cannot shelter them from harm in the way that we did.”  Shin explained.

“So it is you will that we just throw them into harm’s way, and hope that they make it out alive?”  She inquired now growing increasingly more annoyed with her husband.  “Do you understand that all you’re doing is gambling their lives away?  What will happen when you eventually lose... and I lose my sons Maximillian Itami?”  She inquired now.

“What would you rather have me do Naomi?  Would you rather I leave them to their devices, sacrificing them to this world and its one million fads... suffer their forms to the whims of pop-culture and allow them to be destroyed the first time they encounter true strength?”  Shin inquired now.

“I would rather have you let them live their own lives, rather than having them live the lives that you set out in front of them.”  Naomi retorted.

“You asked me to step aside when Rueben decided to stop his pursuit of ethereal strength... you prevented me from assisting Rayne get over his ethereal hinderances and now you ask me leave Roun and Ryuu to their whims?”  Shin inquired now, growing visibly annoyed.  “I may not be the model Terran father that you would have me be, but these boys, my boys are as much a part of me as they are  a part of you... and even though I respect your counsel, I will not allow your opinions to dissuade me from utilising my better judgement!”  Shin roared.  “You will trust me and my methods, the way I trusted you with the eldests... this conversation ends here.”  He finished, turning his attention back to the battle at hand.

“If anything happens to my sons, Maximillian Itami, whether or not you succeed in regaining your throne will...” Naomi started, causing Shin to spun around now, his energy flaring

“If you value me, do not finish that statement... I’ve come too far with you as the only one I can trust to have you become a threat to me now.”  Shin replied, his voice losing its rage and becoming frigidly cold.  Naomi would pause, dropping her head before tears began to build in her eyes.  As Shin extended his hand outwards, his cape billowed behind him and his energy drew his wife towards him.  “Take out your frustrations on me... but leave my dreams intact.”  Was all he would say as Naomi body pressed up against his chest.

The Boss tier psychic would spend the next few minutes pounding against her husband’s chest, her love and anger flowing through the ethereal torrent that washed over the Perfect level Oyan as his resolved reassured her of his believe in his choices.
