Hyaku's Homecoming
The verdiect would be delivered and the members of the Rogue Field Team as well as the Elite Team K-Four would make their way out of the room, leaving just Kyasho and his adopted son Hyaku behind to work out the details of his reinstatement. On the outside, Tyler would catch up with Roun, one of the first Rogues out the door, to see what her charge’s opinion on his partner’s reinstatement was.
“Slow down Itami.” She called out, slowing Roun’s step considerably as she made her way up next to him. “You’re in an awefully big hurry to get out of here.” She pushed, causing Roun to shake his hand.
“I’m supposed to be meeting with Serai so that he can go over his plan with me and we can work out any kinks.” Roun stated now, causing Tyler to raise an eyebrow. “What?”
“You sure that’s the only reason that you bolted from the room?” She inquired now, causing Roun to scoff lightly.
“What else could it be?” He inquired now, causing her to shrug.
“Oh I don’t know, maybe the fact that your arch-nemesis by design will be back to working side by side with you?” Tyler inquired bluntly in her usually pleasant tone, a fact that made Roun somewhat annoyed.
“Psh.” A loud scoff would be the only reply, drawing mild laughter from Tyler now. “Hyaku hasn’t been a threat to me for a while.” Roun stated with confidence, or as Tyler thought, arrogance. “Whille he’s been off soul searching, the useless guardians that he talks so much about and the rest of us in this war have been working our asses off.” He explained with annoyance in his voice, but Tyler just laughed.
“Oh wow, you talk a pretty good game Commander Itami, but you should not that not only is Hyaku the Obelisk, but his official ‘power rating’ falls in the same range as yours, Jayce’s, Nikolai’s and Xavier Stryke’s.” Tyler stated factually.
“I don’t care what his power rating says, he’s got a lot of catching up to do.” Roun replied dismissively, causing Tyler to smile.
“Without a doubt.” Tyler conceded. “He’s definitely going to be rusty, but I wouldn’t write him off as not being a threat.” She smirked. “After all, you are good... but not that good.” Tyler reminded him with a smirk.
“So what’s your take on the whole thing?” Roun inquired now, changing the subject slightly.
“Personally, I never liked the kid... and it has nothing to do with his connection to the destroyers.” Tyler explained. “Whether you’re born from Archetype’s line or Heiarch’s first son, when the time comes, picking a side is a personal choice.” Tyler stated.
“So it doesn’t bother you that he’s the host of The Obelisk?” Roun inquired, causing Tyler to shake her head. “So then why don’t you like him then?”
“Because...” She paused. “He’s a dick.” She replied bluntly actually causing Roun to burst out laughing and lightening the mood considerably.
“Wow...” Was all he could say. “Well... fair enough.” He continued. “I guess we really can’t argue with that.” He finished before composing himself and becoming more serious. “So do you think we can trust him?”
“I don’t know about that, but I believe that Kyasho knows what he’s doing.” Tyler countered. “Whether or not Hyaku’s in it for the long haul or just going through another one of his post-adolescence phases, I believe that Kyasho has a plan for him.” She explained, causing Roun to nod his head as he conceded to her reasoning.
“I guess you’re right...”
“Of course I am, come on... you don’t really think that Hyaku’s gonna outsmart the most powerful man on the planet do you?” She inquired, causing Roun to smirk.
“Yeah I guess not...”
“Good. Then relax, and try to get along with him.” Tyler suggested. “You two used to be pretty friendly after all, and I think that was good for him... maybe it was good for both of you.”
“Maybe...” Roun grumbled defiantly, causing Tyler to flash him a quick glare. “Maybe it was...” Roun replied with a sigh.
“Good.”
“You know... you’re not as ditzy as you appear to be Ms. Cage.” Roun stated, drawing mild laughter from Tyler.
“Yeah, I have my moments.” She replied playfully. “Now, it’s time to go torment Hyaku. See you in Crysworne Roun!” She yelled as she made her way off and down another corridor of the facility. Hyaku’s homecoming would be rather fun.
