Desperate Attempts (31/12/2499 AF)
"Enree?" Dias' voice sounded as the young guardian approached his location. His energy signature was unmistakable, now even more pronounced with the powers of Geon emanating in tandem with his own unique power signature. Ruejin Dias looked on with anticipation as he closed the distance, finally reaching his destination and speaking.
"The boy is but a spectator at this point, the gift of sight combined with the daunting task at this time seemed a bit much for young Enree, so he has relinquished control to me." Geon replied, turning his attention now to Synchros and Khaaos, who had resumed their battle.
"Is that possible?" Dias replied, somewhat shocked that Geon could take control of his student's body.
"The boy has an exceptional understanding of the ethereal world, as it is all that he has known for quite some time. Unlike most, he could sense my presence, and differentiate myself from his own self, grasping the severity of the situation he decided it best if I were to deal with the situation personally, rather than use him as my vessel." Geon explained, leaving Dias somewhat speechless.
"I see." Was all that he could reply, being torn between the uneasy confusion that came with his newly found knowledge and being thoroughly impressed by his young ward's ability and insight.
"Enree's body was somewhat fragile, but I believe that it should serve its purpose with the enhancements I have made, what would you have us do?"
"Synchros and Khaaos have grown far beyond the limits of our powers, we are no match for them and they know it." Dias explained.
"So if we cannot beat them, what would you have us do?"
"Our job is to protect this world, not to destroy its adversaries. however, in this case, the only way to save our world is to wipe these two from existence." Dias paused. "I will travel back, through the stream of time and divert the energy source that feeds their destructive power."
"You will prevent this reality from ever taking place. but what is to ensure that this new reality you create will not fall down this same path?" Geon question somewhat sceptically.
"We will give them the power to see this future, and work away from it."
"You wish that I would retrieve the Eye of God?"
"Yes, and engineer the new guardians for this place, my power is the only one that can complete the task at hand." Dias replied solemnly.
".Goodbye D--Reujin." Enree replied through Geon.
"God's speed my son, we will meet again in a greater place."
With this, Dias tore a hole in the temporal dimension. Geon watched as his master and friend disappeared into the portal, before he took off to Zaidern Temple to retrieve the artefact that Dias had requested.
From their battleground, Synchros and Khaaos could sense the movement of the guardians, as insignificant as they considered it. Synchros dodged under the blade of Khaaos' nodachi as he made a horizontal slash, shoulder-checking him backwards before he began to speak. The two carried on somewhat calmly, a disturbing habit for two on opposing sides of such a vicious battle.
"What do you think the insects are up to?" Synchros questioned calmly, as his buster unfolded and released a concentrated beam of energy at Khaaos.
"Why do you even bother, their actions ceased being of consequence some time ago." Khaaos retorted, folding into a ball as his wings expanded, forming a gigantic phoenix from his energy that engulfed him and guarded him from the beam.
"Ah, you're no fun. The fact that the insect cannot extinguish the flame shouldn't prevent it from dancing when the insect draws near."
"Whether or not the flame dances, the insect still persists on feeling its 'warmth'. their deaths are preordained. as flames we are nothing more than the instruments of their demise."
"Are we.?" Synchros raised an eyebrow with a bemused curiosity, summoning a great-dragon to do battle with Khaaos' phoenix. "But who would dear make music with instruments as treacherous as we?"
"That my young nemesis is beyond even I."
