Mortal Fate (31/12/1499 AD)

Enree emerged from the portal, checking the time stream to realise that they had travelled one millennium back in time.  Dias had truly been serious about erasing the future, taking no chance with his attempted rewrite of the future’s script.  As Enree scanned the area for his master, all he could sense was a massive wave of energy racing in his direction.  Wings erupted from his form now, allowing him to thrust to the side, rolling to avoid a massive blue wave of energy that hurled towards him.

“Get the old man, I’ll handle the boy.”  Khaaos ordered now, causing his young nemesis to raise an eyebrow with disdain as Khaaos continued to release wave after wave of energy.

“Perhaps we should switch targets…” Synchros retorted, charging a ball of pure Synchros and taking aim, waiting until Enree dodged one of Khaaos’ attack before tagging him with the blast.  As the attack impacted, the child was launched into a nearby cliff face, where the legendary Synchros energy bonded him to the matter there, leaving little that he could do with Geon to free himself.  “That was one insect dispatched… now, should we destroy the other?”  Synchros inquired.

His words would fall on deaf ears however as Khaaos faded from next to him.  Synchros sighed lightly, smirking before he summoned his visor about him and scanned the landscape for the powerful ethereal signature that denoted his nemesis.

Hundreds of miles away above another continent, Dias would feel as a phasing slash connected with his back, sending Khaaos’ blue flaming energy rushing through his form.  The attack would stop the delicate process which he was now attempting, interrupting his attempt to redirected the latent ether flow which fuelled their abilities around the entire planet, dooming humanity to never develop their channelling abilities.  Unfortunately, with his process only half way completed and his with steady hand bumped by the Destroyer Khaaos, the botched process had bizarre effects.  The two watched as the regular world split into two separate plains, slowly shifting out of phase as the time stream itself seemed to diverge, creating two parallel streams of time which ran through each of these individual earths.

Back near the original location of the portal, over the Americas, the temporal rift faded, shutting off the last gateway back to the future which Synchros and Khaaos had so painstakingly created.  This caused Synchros a great deal of annoyance, the source of which he was now about to exterminate with his powerful Blaster.  Summoning his massive Buster Cannon once more, he took aim at the boy, powering up his Green Plasma and releasing it.  In this moment however, the fission of the worlds was cemented in the Ether Stream, and Geon found himself transported to one Earth, while Synchros found himself drawn into the other.  The odd ethereal blast was ripped into its components, with its some of its material and all of its Ki based components staying in the realm with Synchros, while the rest of its material and all of its Magic based components impacting Enree and blasting him through the cliff face onto his back, dissipating his ethereal form and tossing him on into the chaotic magic stream.

Luckily for Khaaos, he and his annoyance would find themselves in the same realm, allowing him to dispatch him as he saw fit.  The gaping hole in Dias’ back still burned with blue flames, forcing him to separate himself from the attack, allowing his body to heal the wound as the flames died off with nothing to feed on.  Khaaos smirked now, acknowledging that he would enjoy destroying the old monk that had made his life just that much more difficult.

A silver and gold armour appeared around the old man now as he took up his fighting stance, waving his bare hands ever so slowly as he awaited Khaaos’ first attacks.  Drawing his hands together and then pulling them apart, Dias was able to split Khaaos’ first attack around himself, allowing him to move through behind the wave and land two palm strikes that split his opponent’s armour.  Khaaos was surprised, actually being hit by the insect.

“Young Synchros knows nothing.”  He laughed, looking down and Dias now, his energy raging.  “Whether or not the flame dances, the moth will always seek its warmth.”

With this the area exploded with blue flames, engulfing Khaaos and his opponent, burning the monk into nothingness as the Khaaos imbedded in the attack dissipated his energies totally, setting them adrift on the Ki stream now.  Khaaos would smile, but his mirth would be very short lived, as his form now began to deformat itself, unsummoning his weapons and then his armour, before his entire ethereal energy set vanished from around him.

“What is this?”  He exclaimed, realising that the ether which he once commanded no longer flowed through the planet.  Straining his ethereal senses, he realised that Ki was the only force that flowed through this area with enough strength to still be channelled, but not even that could support his gargantuan form.

Miles away, Synchros was met with the same fate, reverting to a mortal form, the likes of which he had not experience in decades.  From halfway around the world, the two destroys shared in the same burning rage as they began to plot their revenge on the guardians that doom them to such a degrading, mortal state.
